Here it is. Pretty cool to think it took 8 hours to expose this image.

The first acclaimed photograph, taken in 1827 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, Point de vue du Gras.

If you care, you can read him here:

That looks like one of those horrible camera feeds that supposedly caught a ghost walking across the field of vision.

What is in the picture ?  I understand that this is the first picture ever but it's so poor quality that I can't even tell what it's a picture of.

Is it the front of a boat ?  A piece of lemon pie ?  An open zipper ?  A UFO ?  A fox ?

Whoever figures it out wins a year-supply of Turtle Wax for dentures.

The 16 x 20 cm view...shows the courtyard of his country estate Le Gras in the village of St. Loup-de-Varennes, and was taken from an upper window...Niépce repeated the view once more on a copper plate in 1829, and sent it to [Louis Jacques Mandé] Daguerre before signing a partnership agreement with him on 14th December. Neither the earlier nor the later picture has survived...

I really needed that year supply of Turtle Wax for my Dentures......

Ah yes Daguerre.  I heard of that guy.  That's the guy that is often associated with early photography.

I knew this Jeopardy knowledge would come in handy at some point :-)
