The phenomenon of "death by success" -- in which a website is brought down by strong user interest -- is well known online but has taken a new twist in China.

Starting next Monday, official news agency Xinhua reports, Chinese internet porn websites that attract too much traffic could land their owners in jail for life, along with hosting service owners and others "who knowingly aid the production and dissemination of pornographic materials."

The threshold for prosecution under the proclamations, issued jointly by the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, will be 250,000 user sessions.

"If a pornographic website has been clicked for more than 250,000 times, the case would be considered 'very severe' and relevant people would be applicable with sentences of life imprisonment, according to the interpretations," Xinhua reported.

While targeted at commercial porn sites, the edict will also sweep up casual providers in "grave cases."

China's criminal law already outlaws the production and dissemination of pornographic materials.

Porn providers who run mobile phone and "phone sex" operations will also be covered by the edict.

Anyways I think it's kind of odd, they REALLY like to censor people so I vote no, as I like my freeeeedommm. So no to what's happening in china, but YES TO THE PEOPLE SPAMMING US, for gods sakes I don't know how I get signed up for that crap - thank god for gmails leet spam protection.

Oz, Orasu, I'm going to level with you: I sort of, kind of, put all my financial recourses into Asian Pornography, with a strong emphasis in Hong Kong.

In fact, the reason my screen name is Nobuyuki is not because of some anime character, but because it was the only way I could get Nobuyuki Nakunaga (The Ron Jeremy of Japan) to perform on my website. He thought it would be a "Lucky chance to advertise. Brand recognition super great!"

With the Chinese government soon on my tail, I will have to shut down all markets in the sector. Over 70% of my income will be lost, and I'll be bleeding out loans until my Taiwan and Japanese sectors can hold their own weight ( I'm not sure if I even want to look North Korea again).

By the time I surface from this giant financial debt, The Matrix Online will no longer be necessary, as fanboys will have already constructed a 1/10th scale of the original Matrix, powered not by people, but by sunshine and dreams. They break ground mid-November, deep in the heart of Canada (We kept those guys around for something).
