Threat to Get Us Banned

I submitted the following petition to the MxO Staff:

This event took place out of the game world and out of the forums, but it involves the NDA, so I figured it was worth reporting.

On August 29th I received a message to my AIM name, XxXxTb0nexXxX, from a DiGiTaL123456789. The following is a log of that conversation:

DiGiTaL123456789: Tbone of the Furious Angels.  We have a message for you from our employers.
XxXxTb0nexXxX: Ok
*** DiGiTaL123456789 wants to directly connect.
DiGiTaL123456789: Please connect.
XxXxTb0nexXxX: I'm on Trillian
XxXxTb0nexXxX: It won't connect.
DiGiTaL123456789: Can you get on AIM for a minute.
DiGiTaL123456789: You mail has been sent.

I received an mp3 in my email account at tbone@followtheangel.org. The following is a transcript of the message:

"Wake up, Mr Tbone. Wake up and smell the bannage. we've been very busy in your absence, Mr. Tbone. Do onto others what you would want done back to yourself. We know you are in beta, tbonemxo. I know where you live. Well, perhaps not. But we will find out where you live. Maybe not, I don't feel like spending my time on that. But, something like...bannage will happen, and people will scream. Lalalalalala. Lalalalalala. So what are you going to do now Tbone? It is your call."


I found the recording to be rather humorous. Anyone who is in Beta or happens to run across my Beta account by looking at what users are online can easily see I am in Beta. I continued my conversation with Digital:

XxXxTb0nexXxX: lol
DiGiTaL123456789: You have been cautioned.
XxXxTb0nexXxX: What was the warning?
DiGiTaL123456789: The cat is out of the bag, Mr. Tbone.
XxXxTb0nexXxX: Well, whatever conclusions you come to is your own business.
DiGiTaL123456789:
 The Syndicate knows of your beta acceptance as well of all of your clans beta acceptances.
DiGiTaL123456789: Disappear.


While this appears to be nothing more than stupid clan games, this is evidance that someone may have leaked NDA info to others. Telling others that myself and my clan mates are in Beta is against the NDA, so these guys are basically shooting themselves in the foot. The only people who know for sure that I am in are those who are in Beta. My faction members are not aware of my participation in Beta (except those who are in as well).

I can only assume that someone from "The Syndicate" got accepted into Beta, saw our "Follow the angel" thread, and reported it to their faction. In order to undermine us, they have come up with this scheme to use that information to make it appear that we are violating the NDA. I figured I would bring this to your attention now so that you will be aware of the situation and can handle it accordingly. If any evidence is given that I have violated the NDA, I assure you that it was not intentional and I will take the proper steps to undo the harm.

I don't take threats lightly and I'm sure neither do you. Sorry for wasting your time on this, but I figured it might be something worth mentioning in case it gets worse in the future. Attached is the mp3 that was sent to me. Thanks again for your time.

I'm sure it's a beta guy who saw you in game or posting in the beta forums.  Really strange....and also somewhat complimentary.  As a general rule you don't follow the goings on of unimportant people, and you don't stalk them and take your time creating actual mp3 messages....

I still don't know who has apparently hacked our site, but here is the unedited details of what happened with the audio threat...

Kael and Solus had a good friend who got a Beta invite. That person shared with them everyone who is in Beta. This is how they discovered that myself and others was in. They created the mp3 for fun and then felt stupid one day and actually sent it to me. MxO sent Digital123456789@aol.com a warning to cut it out or suffer the consequences. By that time they had already confessed to me, though. I'm glad that's over with, but I'd really like to get this hacker dealt with as well...
