Ok so those interested in competing in ranked warzones we can start training now.  If at all possible when pvping try and sort out a group of 2 DPS 1 tank and 1 healer this way you can start getting used to playing with each other and getting used to the mechanics for instance:

Always guard your healer they are squishy but with a simple guard all of a sudden they become invincible, i've seen a tank healer combo hold off a point long enough for reinforcements to come.  Also

Dont forget taunts they help a lot on my vanguard i can reduce the damage a player is doing to my team mates by 36% by using taunts and ion pulse this plus guard makes your healers invincible which in turn makes you invincible with a whopping 86% damage reduction, ive seen assassins hit for 400 with their stealth strike using this method its so funny watching them burn there big hitters on the healer only to do no damage at all and have to stealth and run away.

Focus down 1 target at atime either call it out in TS or use a target marker.

Mark the enemy healers these should be killed at 1st oportunity, if they are guarded find the tank guarding him and have your tank and healer interupt the enemy healer while the DPS kill the tank.

If your healer is getting focused on kill the enemys focusing on them the less the healer has to deal with healing himself and interuptions the more healing you recieve.

Healers your tank is always your 1st priority followed closely by yourself he's taking all that damage for you the least you can do is toss him a heal from time to time.

I would also strongly reccomend sitting down with others in the guild and having a good heart-to-heart about class mechanics. Know and understand what your class/spec is strong against, and what you have problems with, and why. For instance, as a Scrapper-Scoundrel I know that I'm strong against non-Rage Marauders (because they don't have the survivability against my burst), and weak against Mercenaries (too much armor, can heal too quickly). Do you seem to be killing one class more than others? Does one class seem to wreck your shit on a daily basis? Understand why, the mechanics behind it, and figure out what you can do to stack the odds in your favor.

Oh, and get 500+ expertise before these start or you're roadkill.

Play smart...
You have a hard hitting AoE and see people on the way? Dont burn it on the one guy in front of you. Wait the few seconds.
Your healer died? What is your guard doing? Nothing. Learn your "Select nearest friendly" hotkey, hit it and hit your guard hotkey. It takes a fraction of a second.
I use to have a bad habit of only using my area taunt. This was a mistake. I now use both my area and my single target taunt, usually at the same time
To echo Sareds remarks, know what other classes offer. For instance knowing if your smuggler is ranged or melee changes my gameplay. Do I force speed from away, force pull them and tele throw to keep them ranged from the smuggler, or do I pull them right to them? This decision process and execution should be second nature and take only a moment.
Do NOT stun someone who is stunned!
Keep an eye on resolve bars. Dont burn your pull/push/stun/slow until it's done.

For any valor champions, this should all be second nature and "no shit" items by now, but I'm always surprised how often these things are overlooked, even by some FA members.

One thing to consider...if you can run multiple simultaneous ranked matches from the same team, I see no reason to split up.  If we were running two matches with 16 ppl from same team, we would probably progress faster.

Also, it would be crappy if 4 ppl from one team were on, and 4 from another, but couldn't run matches because they were on different teams.

Depending on how the system is, I would say the best situation has us all on the same team, with 'ideal' squads established for optimal performance whenever possible.

Just thought of this: situational awareness.

Are you on a ramp? Position yourself in a way that a knockback won't throw you into a pit/trap.

Are you fighting in the end-zone? Can a warrior/knight LOS you?. (I will yell at you for this.)

Do you know how many people on your team are at mid? East? West? How about the opposing team? Do you know where your teammates are headed? Do they need your help there or do you need to hold your point?

Always know where you are and what tactical advantages and disadvantages that gives to you, as well as your opponents.
