Friday Update!

By all accounts, this Friday update is supposed to be a big one! An embargo is being lifted on the fansite summit, and Stephen Reid tweeted that he hates that he'll miss our reaction because he'll be on a plane.

The ongoing theory is that the NDA is going to be lifted. There have been hints that it would be listed before the open Beta weekend, which has been confirmed for NEXT week!

Don't know if it will be in the update, but it was discovered that the Legacy system is in. Completing Act I unlocks a surname that you can share across your alts.

Another gem I found: you can sit in chairs. Right now it is confirmed for your ship, at least. Sitting in the captain's chair brings up the galaxy map..hah!

I was wondering what happened at the end of Act I. I saw that system but couldn't figure it out from the patch notes.

Regarding surnames:

So I noticed during my beta weekend that when I entered my character name as "ManicVelocity", in-game it wound up being "Manicvelocity".  Lower-case V.  I know it's small, but it bugged me.

So if I wanted "Manic Velocity" as a character name, I'd have to name my character simply "Manic", and then enter a surname of "Velocity" once I unlock the legacy system.  Correct?  And if I created any alts, they would all share the "Velocity" surname?

In interview with The-Force.eu BioWare has confirmed that sitting in chairs will be in before launch and could have been implemented this build but I haven't tried it yet.

Hey Everyone,
This build has our first iteration of the Legacy System! At its core the Legacy system is about allowing players to create a family tree of characters. Family is pretty important to the Star Wars universe, with the Skywalker family having one of the most interesting dynamics in movie history. This version is just the foundational components that we will use to build upon in the future. Here are the features of this iteration:
Once your character has completed their Chapter 1 storyline, they will be able to choose a Legacy Last Name. This Legacy Last Name must be unique and is shared across all characters, on all servers – so choose carefully!
Once you have unlocked your Legacy, any and all characters on that server will now contribute to that player’s Legacy Experience Points. Much like normal experience points, when you reach certain Legacy thresholds, you will increase yourLegacy Level.
We already have plans for how we will expand the functionality of the Legacy System in one of our major post-ship patches. This will include being able to shape your Legacy’s family tree, and give you a reward for all those Legacy Levels.

This is awesome! I love the idea they are going with here. Now time to prepare some cool last names and hopefully one will work out, since i'm sure many of you will power level past me, as i take in the story. lmfao
