Countdown - Script running slowly
« on: October 06, 2011, 07:00:39 am »
Hey,

Could just be me but thought I would report:
The new countdown clock seems to be stalling the website for me on every page I visit. Get the Flash 10 Player message:

Quote
A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?  Yes / No

I'm running IE8 at work on Win 7 Enterprise.

I'm a total frickin rock star from mars.
C'mon bro, I got tiger blood.

Nah, same issues here at home and work. I only have the issue when I open multiple tabs for multiple topics, though.

I like to just click on all the new topics i havent read and then pan through each tab... That little counter has caused some pretty serious lock-ups for me.

Hmmn, yeah may well be multiple tabs; I often have a lot open on FA.

Yeah this was a Tbone thing, he tends to just add stuff at will no matter how poorly it's coded. :)

Feel free to make one that more matches the FA clock and doesn't suck!

Not sure what's causing it, but I got the code from a website. I guess I'll try to look for a better code?

Haha... I don't have the clock source anymore... I don't think. I did find a s-load of data for modules a year or so back when going through an old 20GB Hard drive... Besides, the FAT clock needs changed too. JScript would do the trick I think, was just the font that was causing issues back in the day...

Darn, I don't have the stamp PSDs either for your avatar. Shame.

Ket, I've got the source code for the FA clock as well as all the PSD's for the stamps if you need them.

I get the same error when using IE at work.

No problems in Firefox or Safari, however.

Yeah I get it on the laptop I use from time to time.

Go ahead, make my day.

I think the problem here is clearly IE.

Yep, must be.  Definitely couldn't be the shitty coding.

I just created a quick, simple countdown timer and put it on Dropbox; feel free to grab and edit. :)
