Bioware Accidentally Sends Game Testing Email
« on: September 29, 2011, 10:31:09 pm »
Wtf...did anyone else get this? I got an email asking if I was enjoying the game testing and inviting me to take a short survey about it. Thing is, my account has never had testing access. Pretty sure it is a phishing email, but I am not home so I won't be able to check for a bit.

yeah... it's an intern's way of getting fired, basically.

-To clarify: Someone made a mistake and sent that to EVERYONE who signed up for beta, vs just those that actually got to test.

It's not any kind of phishing site or virus, as far as I've read so far. Just a very large mistake.

Very, very large mistake, indeed. My heart was pounding when I got that email because I thought I had missed my invite to the Beta.

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

Wow, this is a fuck up of epic proportions. First the April Fools invite email, then the resend of the April Fools invite just to be an asshole (seriously not cool Lith), and now this.

It's going to be really interesting to see how they handle this. How are they possibly going to make up for this? I think everyone is going to feel entitled to a beta invite now.

Entitled to a beta invite? Not quite.

I've committed absolutely nothing to Bioware or EA at this point. I haven't even paid for my pre-order yet. They don't owe me anything.

People make mistakes, and you don't always get everything you want. Such is life. They'd earn a lot of respect if they would explain exactly what happened openly and honestly. Own up to the mistake, put measures in place to ensure it doesn't happen again, and move on. A little transparency goes a long way.

As much as I agree with this I somehow doubt it will happen.  Jaded but hopeful.

Personally, I'd be happy with a youtube video link of them velcroing their intern the a wall somewhere and throwing ewoks at him.

...but i guess I'm easily pleased.

Dear Bioware,

It has come to my attention that you have spent millions of dollars on your upcoming MMO, "Star Wars - The Old Republic".  I would very much like to experience this game for myself!  Enclosed is exactly five U.S. dollars in exchange for full access.  Maybe you could go buy yourself a soda!  You've certainly earned it.

Sincerely,
-TOR Community

No Broin it does not mean you are fucked. They sent out the emails on accident to a chunk of their mailing list when they were only suppose to go to those in testing.
