FA Groups in TOR
« on: September 25, 2011, 12:21:20 pm »
We already know group capacity is 4, and that companions take one slot also.

My concern is that if we start Leveling/Grinding in full groups, companions gonna be left out all the time...

I dunno about you guys, but I would like to progress my relations with my companions, get to know em and what not.

So maybe we could play in groups of 2 to be able to include companions or some of you that don't care could really go into a full group.

So how are we going to make it work? To the Beta testers, what do you recommend? Is there always a way to progress the companion story?

If I had the source code... Life would be easier.

Basically for me Im going to play my story solo with my companions, but if I or faction members need help with something I'll jump over and help out. However the grouping will come into play probably on the flashpoints and PVP mainly.. imho

I advise grouping with as many people and as often as possible. Those social points aren't easy to get otherwise. If you solo up your story, you're going to find your choices limited due to lack of social tier. Not to mention you'll go three times as fast in a group of 4 than running solo.

What are the social points used for?

Just like light/dark points - items unlock at different tiers. Weapons, armor, mods, vanity items, mounts, titles, etc.

solo leveling while doing flashpoints and getting groups for heroic quests worked out for me while leveling.

You got max social tier by doing that? Did you hit 50?

dont worry about companions much. you get enough points in them via your class quests and solo quests for that. Worst case scenario you can just buy your companions gifts to increase their affection rating significantly higher than you could trying to figure out what they like and dont like.

which is gonna be handy for me because I dont plan on letting my companion's 15 affection points alter my decision to kill some crazy stalker chick that tries to think she was more than just a one night stand for my character.

ya i had all my companions and all i had them doing is crafting (JC can solo without companions :D). i think before the reset I got social tier 3...it was really easy to get, but the social tier stuff that I saw in beta wasn't that great. definitely worth if your into vanity stuff. i was able to get lvl 50 on my sage and 42 on a smuggler (don't even ask how i was able to pull that off, cover system /wrists).
