After my upgrade (I have the hardware already. Just need to install it.) I will have Intel Core i5 2500k 3.3 mhz, 8g RAM, 2 Geforce 560s in SLI.  Hopefully this will be plenty to run the game well.

I got sent a copy of Win7 for my birthday and my wife bought me a new monitor so I could stop using our TV to play on.
Which means more game time during the week for me!

Anyway, I am looking to upgrade my machine totally. I7 processor, MB, 16to32 gigs of ram, and a new video card. I am currently running an ATI 5870 and it has been a good card. It supports dx11 so I am not sure I need to upgrade but I may do it anyway on principle.

What I am getting at is if anyone has any recommendations for the MB and video card I would greatly appreciate any incite you have. Thank you kindly.
I used to think I was perfect. However, thinking ones self perfect is conceit and conceit is a character flaw... I have no character flaws.

Go with as much RAM as you can afford.

Well, I guess I'm going to be able to upgrade a little bit before the game comes out. I'll be playing with:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1GB VRAM
23" Acer Monitor

Not the best, but better than what I'm working with now.

That's similar to what I'm running with and I actually suspect it will be able to run the game on max except for heavily populated areas. I'm basing this off the performance I'm getting on BF3 on ultra settings so far.
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

Here's a report on how the game runs on my current system

Laptop Specs:
i5 M460 (Dual Core with 4 Threads at 2.53 GHz)
4GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 310M

Performance: To acheive decent framrates, at 1024x768 60, I have to minimize all graphics preferences (ie. texture quality, shader complexity, dynamic light complexity, distances... etc..). However, the "Graphics Quality Preset" is at "high" and at the moment cannot be modified. I assume it is what it says it is, a preset, so that instead of moving sliders around you can choose "high, medium, or low" but I wonder if "Graphics Quality Preset" might control some other aspect than what's listed.

I just helped my coworker get a new PC which he should be able to run SWTOR with. He couldn't really afford anything brand new, but for 400 bucks he managed to get a decent rig. (He applied to the guild as Tiral, but mentioned he may not have a pc for launch.)

Intel core 2 Duo 2.1Ghz
4.0 GB RAM
Nvidia 9800 GTX 1GB edition
1 TB HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate

Nothing spectacular, but it meets the minimum requirments and then some. I think he'll be ok.

Any concerns with that setup? Obviously he wont run it maxed out, but surely he'll be running it without FPS issues?

Maybe it was the latest patch, but my game is running fine now with "normal" graphics settings.

Strangely, my laptop is the most powerful device I've got right now, thanks to a gift from a friend.  Currently running on a Asus Lamborghini VX-7 gaming laptop.

Processor:   Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7 2630QM
Chipset:   Intel® HM65 Express Chipset
Memory:   DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM,
Storage:   64GB SSD
                750GB Hard Drive
Graphic:   NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460QM with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM
Audio:   Built-in 2 Speakers And Digital Array Microphone
Built-in Azalia compliant audio chip, with 3D effect

My desktop has an original Core i7 2.0GHz, only 6GB of ram, and a GTX465 video card.
