The Beta

I just found out I have an old friend of mine who is in the Beta. He will in fact not in any way shape or form violate the NDA he agreed to in order to play.

So if you have any questions you want me to ask. Lemme know.  :roll1:

Is there a requirement that in order to be in the Beta, you have to have almost no interest in the game??

Actually, I think being a loner might be a plus. I asked if he was in any sort of formed Guild prior, and he said no, not very many were. But I'm a conspiracy theorist and that's just how I think.

which is also probably why so many active forum users on the site are not testing either. the loner type is in theory less likely to tell anyone about the game because they have no other "friends" than those that they get in beta.

My friend who was in the December beta still has access to the TOR beta forum for his group (which, apparently, is still in line to get re-invited, and is looking at about a month or so before they do).  They agreed on a phrase to stick in their sigs to identify themselves to each other without breaking the NDA: "All the way to Alderaan."

So, if you see that in someone's sig, they've probably been in the beta at some point, and you can read between the lines in their posts to maybe glean some new info.

They probably avoid telling people so they're not constantly pressured for information.

I know that was the case with WAR's beta, and assumed it WOULD be the case here, but...I haven't seen a single person on the forums come out and SAY, "I'm in the beta."  Cast anonymous votes in a poll that they had gotten into beta, yes.  SAY they're in beta, no.

Maybe they're just being cautious then, since no one wants to ace themselves out of beta?

In any case, if you see that keyphrase in someone's sig, take note.
