So I went there and logged on.  Why can't I find out where to click to get a key?  WTF is my user error this time?

I had to register twice: once for the site that gives out the beta key, and once with whatever company distributes Black Prophecy itself.

Once you've done that, you go back to the page you linked and it should have a key for you.

I downloaded it... While having TS up, another game in full settings I was AFK in, League of Legends on full settings, while surfing the internet, and syncing my ipod.

Not a hiccup to speak of.

Can someone break down the weapon types for me so I don't go spending my points randomly. Also what is needed weapon/play-style wise?

Energy is both shield and hull with a few exceptions like the lighting cannon that is just hull damage.  mechanical bypasses the shields but the damage is reduced passed on the shields density level.   for early level pvp mechanical seems to do the best but i think the higher level we get the density of the shields will become higher and the energy will become useful.

explosives deal in missiles and grenade launchers. grenade launchers are more or less splash damage, the big one here that everyone likes is missiles.

One thing i should note is that your weapons are more determined by your playstyle. if your going to be a fast interceptor style ship: go for light weight (low mass) weapons. no shields as they make up the most mass on your ship by a single object. if you go mechanical, chain guns do decent damage and are lighter allowing you to maneuver faster. if your going somewhere middle ground, I would go with a slightly heavier guns and level 1 missile mount. (wont affect your maneuverability too much that way and you add a little more punch)
