Well, it makes sense in a way, otherwise imagine how long it would take to actually read something. Perhaps this is why sometimes people stuggle when trying to read words, and have to re-read it before they can say it.

Yes, some people do stuggle. They don't learn this because a) they never learned how to speel or b) they have a vocabulary consisting of 4 and 5 letter words only.
