I think I spent about 4k on my wifes ring - but it was appraised for more than 2 months woth of my salary.

A fucking shame she lost it at the movie theater when we went to see the Simpsons Movie. *DO'H!*

yeah this one was appraised for 7700.  Its amazing how they can appraise it for one thing and sell it for something so much less.

I was taught that a guy should spend at least two month's salary on just the engagement ring. I fully expect the wedding ring to cost much more.

Sucks about your wife's ring. :(

well the 2 months salary is basically what a jewelry store will tell you so they can get more money naturally.. but most people atleast down here dont even get a "wedding ring" they get a wedding band.  It is hard to have a wedding band cost more than the engagement ring.  If I were to do the 2 months salary plus make the wedding band cost more that would be over 19,000 dollars in rings holy fook. lol

Actually it can go either way.  Most people I know (myself included) spent the bulk of the money on an Engagement Ring and then bought a simply stated yet matching Wedding ring.

I did the same.  Was for sure the smart move.

Fuck that for a bag of chips. If I ever propose, we're getting haribo rings.

Trust me, the price of the ring is only relevant to two factors:
1. You can afford it (financing is a great option)
2. You spent enough to show that it was a big investment. Meant you have to save up and sacrifice for it, and that you've really thought this through. It shows your commitment to the coming relationship.

Two month's salary is just a guideline.

ok lits I know you will say you dont care about how big the ring is ect... you just want one but... in all honesty would you be happy with a ring that cost nearly 5k but wasn't quite the guys 2 month salary?

So Corey Vidal did a video on Youtube of himself lipsyncing Moosebutter's song, Star Wars (John Williams Is The Man).  The names of each of the songs appears at the top of the video at the beginning of each song.

I guess it got pretty popular on YouTube.  so he got together with Moosebutter, and filmed a video of them doing it live.

I laughed, and I figured some of you would too.

Pirus: I would only care if it showed a significant amount of thoughtfulness (researching what style i prefer) and if it was enough of a financial sacrifice to show commitment :)

In otherwords... you did good :)

I'm sorry I shouldn't have been so insensitive! I know at least four girls you would like who are single... but then again, you went to DC instead of LA, so... it's really your own fault!
(much love and respect in that comment, though lol)
