Finally called Dell/Alienware about my M11x.  Had the broken hinges thing, and the LCD died last week.  Most likely something having to do with both the screen hinges being broken.  Got the box yesterday, and shipped it today.

Now I'm reduced to using this to game: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1617044

Such a shame, right?

I just got an email inviting me to apply for beta testing for APB. I feel like I'm in the exact same place I was last year...

I'd never, ever, ship my laptop.

You pay for Next business day on-site support. Which means they send the parts needed the next day and you'll get a call from a technician to set up an appointment. I guess it's too late now but for future reference just make sure to bring that up if they ever try to tell you that you "NEED" to ship your laptop away.

That's bullshit and you should never stand for it.

They were having bad luck with technicians.  They were sending technicians out who didn't know what they were doing.  Not to me personally, but to other M11x owners who were having hinge issues.

They are also installing new, revised hinges/parts and they're doing all these changes at the Depot in Texas.

Are you guys going to join up for the beta?

Granted, it may not be much better than the first bomb they did, but it's something to waste time with right?

I dunno. I'd compare it more to BFBC2 than an MMO, and if I'm gonna be playing a shooter, it might as well be BFBC2 since I already know it is better than APB.

I got the same email.  Reading it through it is just an email to confirm you are interested in being considered for the Reloaded beta. No guarantee.

It sounds more like an agreement for them to send you information about the game again.

I'm willing to give it a shot to see if any of the old bugs/exploits have been fixed.  I believe they're utilizing Punk Buster to cut down on aim botting.

I liked the concept, and loved the character creator.  My opinion tanked when the pricing system was announced.  My only real gripe about gameplay was that the maps felt increasingly cramped the longer you played in them.

As a F2P, I could probably be convinced to pick it up again.  Though I can't see myself playing it seriously if FA is not invested in it.

There was something about the game that I just didn't like. It was the mechanics. Whoever had the better gun had the upper hand, and it was incredibly hard to kill someone with a much better gun than you that was modded to high hell. It's hard to win a mission when the people are 15 levels above you. I know the game supposedly matches you up with people of the same skill level, but most of the time when I was playing in the Beta not enough people were online, so I would end up going up against someone who had played the game much more than I did who had a much better weapon than I did.

I don't see myself playing this because I have a real shooter, Battlefield, that is much more highly polished and doesn't feel like a cheap knock-off of GTA. Cool, I can drive a car. But, wait, there's so much lag between me and the server that my turn doesn't register for almost a second. Cool, I can create a sweet looking character... that I'll rarely see the face of. Cool, I can participate in San Paro's crime and dynamically effect things around me... for no purpose whatsoever.

The game was boring in the first Beta. There was no story and the missions were too stale to hold my interest. I highly doubt it'll be much more fun I'd rather just own people in Battlefield.

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
