I would advise against that.  Once she recognizes you she'll most likely be embarrassed.  Unless you guys had a good relationship in school, asking for a free dance would be creepy at worst and unprofessional at best.

If you want a dance, you'd best be willing to pay for it.

as an attender of quite a few shoe shows I would have to agree.. pay and tip if you like what you see.. she is more likely to be a LOT friendlier if you A) dont come across creepy
B) show that you have no problem tipping for good "service"

they are much more likely to offer suggestions to other girls that catch your eye as well.. at least thats how its done here down in the south states
