My girls and I took a drive today and happened upon a beautiful 19th century mansion and carriage house. We love old architecture like this, and it really stands out in a place like Salt Lake. It's even tucked away in the industrial side of town.



We get out of the car to take a better look. I look up near the roof, and I see this:



A big "FA" insignia. I immediately start looking for any "For Sale" signs in the yard. Maybe I could get it cheap, considering it's next to the freeway and surrounded by factories.

Apparently it's a historical building, owned by the state. Looking in the windows, the place was completely empty. A layer of grey dust covered every flat surface. A plaque near the front door informed us that it was built for Albert Fisher, "AF", who founded the local "Fisher Brewery" which was eventually sold to Anheiser-Busch in the 1940's.

So unfortunately, this remains the "AF Mansion" and will not be the "FA Mansion" any time soon. But imagine the parties we could have in there.

One of my friends just gave birth to their 5th daughter. I got to hold her hours into her life. She's adorable.
I just found out another one of my friends, who isn't much older than me, is going to be a grandmother.

FML.
