Here's a fun questionaire.... apparently most people type at an average of 36wpm...

I do 77wpm @ 97% accuracy.

What about ya'll? I'd like to see what the average compu geek is capable of.

Fuse. Use the best lawyer you can afford (or accountant;they are cheaper) to incorporate your business into an llc. Don't try to do it yourself you will have no one to sue when things go wrong and might miss something.

(but that's a good thing because you'll always get more back when you itemize.)

Unless you actually don't go over the standard deduction. If I weren't married two years ago I would have gotten a nice $3000 check from the IRS. Instead "we" ended up owing $130 :-p

Dag,

Don't quote me on this but, there's no law that says you MUST file jointly once you get married.

True, but if we filed separately the net total owed went up to $800. Now I could have just told her to pay for her own taxes, but that's not the thing a wife wants to hear.

Last year similar thing happened, except we both owed,  it was about $4500 cheaper to file jointly rather than separately. I believe an ad campaign I've saw a couple years ago was "Marriage 'Works'" to tout the financial benefits of getting married.
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

I am CEO (and obviously a shareholder) in a software startup with 3 other people that I incorporated just out of college. I read a lot on the subject of incorparation before hand and I paid a couple of dollars for a nice custom designed 'Articles of Incorporation' and 'Bylaws', and I bought a decent corporate kit (from a Utah company!) with stock certificates, ledgers, and a seal kit.

Honestly, I didn't hire a lawyer because; a) I am somewhat protected by my University since our software was designed in undergrad engineering courses and we have a licensing agreement (for the concept) with the school and they provide some legal services; b) It is a low risk company, everything is well documented, and until our first upcoming major transaction we are dealing with literally no money. When I have some funds to maneuver with I will dedicate some to have a lawyer check over our documents.

But I think the key is to document and save absolutely everything. Oh, and of course not to forget about the IRS.

Don't believe everything you think.

I tried it once typing with the 'Astornauts' theme and got 48 wpm with 87% accuracy, then I tried it immediately after with the 'test instructions' catagory and got 78wpm with 97% accuracy.

Aye, that is why I left one of my previous jobs. I discovered that the owner had not paid any federal taxes for the business (i.e. payroll tax) since it's founding or state taxes after the first year (he did pay the initial MD business licensing fee :-P). I don't think it would have been a problem as the company was making money, but the owner told me he had no intention of ever paying taxes again (and was taking all of that company's earnings to cover his real estate losses). I reported him to the IRS, they have a handy form on their website. I spoke with one of the other employees that stuck around, they're still open for business albeit illegally and nobody is getting paid in accordance with state laws. Gotta love American business!

accidentally deleted the image. Net 86 wpm with 98% acc. I'm sure if I kept trying I could get lucky with a higher score. My worst was net 60wpm, but I tended to average around net 75wpm with the 1min samples (it's really boring to type the 3min samples... and typically slower).
