I remember hearing about this vaguely and how people felt bad that some college kid got tased by the police. Watching the video now, he got what he deserved and frankly we should all be thankful police have an intermediate tool at their disposal between talking and shooting a bullet.

IN my area there were dealerships that let their detailers take the C4C cars out for a joyride and even purposely wreck them - Perfectly good working cars!

I had no idea it was a secret at all.  I thought it was well known fact that they were junking the motors in Cash For Clunkers cars.  But I'm also a car guy who reads car sites (like Jalopnik and LeftLaneNews) daily.

It's pretty ridiculous considering there were plenty of good cars traded in for that "up to" $4500 credit.  Some cars which probably would have sold for more than $4500 otherwise.

And some that were only worth scrap metal that they took, like my girlfriends '88 Montaro. That had serious head gasket problems (I'm pretty sure it was blown.) That because we were able drive it onto the lot (from a Uhaul trailer) they took.
