Does this promotion leave a vacancy? I'm out of a job in a month :-/

Good luck Manic...I just got a promotion earlier this year... love it.
Sorry to hear that Dag. Normal layoffs?

Yesterday was bittersweet for me.
Sweet:Mid day I bought a bunch of stuff for my camera. I would like to get into DV, so I got a battery grip, a couple more batteries, an extra charger, an extra SD card, a camera handgrip, and also a shotgun mic for better audio. I'm trying to decide if I want a 24-70mm or a 70-200mm for my next purchase. They're both abotu the same price, but that's still another $800-$1200 I don't have. boo.

Bitter:Last night my computer had a stroke. It won't even power on. Going to try and test another PS, but am expecting the worst, that I need to build a whole new rig. grrr.

Good luck Manic.

Sorry about the job loss Da6onet. I just started working a month ago after about a year and a half of unemployment. Keep you head up.

What camera do you have Fuse? What do you want to use the camera for? If it's for little projects that you'll have time to plan, I'd slowly buy prime lenses and instead find a rental house to rent them for your projects. If you want to have it ready for shooting at a moment's notice, then I guess getting some nice zooms would be better. What brand lenses are you shopping for?

Canon T2i. I have the cheap, but amazing 50mm 1.8 prime, the kit 18-55mm, and also a not-so-great but usable 75-300mm III.

When I say I'd like to get into DV, I mean "I don't know jack, but I'm impressed with what I see my camera is able to do int he hands of other people who know what they're doing, and I'd like to give it a shot."

The only video that I've really liked that I've taken wasn't corrected and wasn't shot with the best settings:

Most of the decent stuff I have is on: http://bjsmith.smugmug.com
Much of which is for a friend, so is PW'd. I'm really just now getting to know the concepts and ability of this camera.

End of a project with no retention for any of the management (get a nice performance bonus though).

I know we have a couple Business Analyst positions opening up in my unit - not quite sure thats up your alley though. We're technically on a hiring freeze, but can make some business cases for certain situations. If interested in getting more info let me know.

I guess it's a good thing we didn't invest time and money into APB...

I just spent way too much on computer parts... I haven't done this in over 6 years.
Yikes.

I think I should be set for another 6 years though.

ASUS 880G Board
Phenom II X6 3.2GHz - Six core CPU
8GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1333 memory
850W PSU
GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1G Video
Xion Predator 970 case
Swiftech H20-220 Ultima XT liquid cooling sys
ASUS 19" widescreen LED monitor

I'm so very broke.

If it goes F2P and they drop the $50 price tag a bit, I may pick it up.

Sucks to see people losing their jobs, but I can't say I'm surprised that this happened.

They got too greedy. Even after they removed the "pay to trade/sell" micro-transaction model due to its unpopularity, it had already left a bad taste in a majority of the player base's mouths (i.e. us), and I don't even think casual player want to pay per hour to play a game (the only people I can think of who would pay per hour like that is HARDCORE gamers). AND they only had two playable maps. AND weapon balance was horrifically off. AND lag was a consistent problem. AND there was no story. AND the "missions" were too repetitive and didn't offer enough variety in game play.

Character customization was cool, though.
