Well the M11x is having a refresh this summer with an i3,i5, and i7 core...

So i'd recommend if you haven't gotten one already to wait until the refresh happens.

So i'm logged in to TS and see Kafyn in the visitor's channel...

I wasn't around much but after digging some information on him i can see he has a bit of history.

I believe he's gonna try to sign up... again. Hopefully i'll be around for his interview if he gets that far.

Man the more I read up on all the new stuff they're doing with The Old Republic the more I can't wait to play it.  Assuming Bioware has a good launch (most MMOs don't, so not really holding my breath) this shit is gonna be a blast!

Same, I'm just hoping I get my M11x by then ;)

I love my m11x. :D

Yes sir!  It's also supposed to be getting nVidia's Optimus tech. :D

Yeah, a little ticked that it's getting such a nice upgrade so soon after I bought mine, but that's the way technology is.

It just means I'll be buying a new one. :D

So I take it that the M11x will increase in price when it gets updated? :/

I rang up Alienware the other day and they said I can get at least 6% off when I buy it. Wewp.

Oh and Teck, does the m11x cope well when its OC'd or does it overheat?

I haven't heard anything about an increase in price, but honestly, I wouldn't expect it to jump that much.  The m11x is meant to be a "cheap" gaming laptop option.  If anything, I'd expect the dual-core Pentium ($800 base) option to be replaced with the i3, the Core 2 Duo (+$100) option to be replaced with the i5, and the i7 possibly being a +$200 option.

As far as discounts, I know for the US, they give discounts to university students.  I don't remember how much it actually is.  You should see if they offer that over there.

The m11x has an "Overclock" function in the BIOS.  Accessible to anyone, and allowed/covered by Alienware.  It bumps the current 1.4ghz processors up to 1.7ghz.  I've run mine in Overclock mode since first boot.  The only time the computer ever gets really hot for me is when I'm playing something graphic intensive, like BF:BC2.  And even then, I don't feel like it was unreasonably hot for a gaming laptop.

The price might jump a bit but i would definitely think it's worth it. The main bottleneck for the M11x was the CPU and now it's become even more amazing now with it's i core cpus.

@Nocry, Will make some and do the usual as soon as possible buddy.

Although i might not be around this weekend so you might have to wait a bit.

I can't believe how cheap the m11x is for you guys. I'm really tempted to buy it from the US and get it shipped. It's about $1300 over here for the base package :(

If I get the m11x from the US it's £613.23, but from the UK it's £849 and they're both the same build! I really don't get that...

Yeah, i don't know what to tell ya on that end...

If you feel comfortable with one of us in the US, i'm sure we wouldn't mind purchasing it for you and shipping it.  I think Paypal would be the easiest way to transfer the money.

Also, in regards to getting discounts and such, ALWAYS mention if you are in the military or in school. You can get an instant 10% discount this way.

Another thing to do is, instead of purchasing it through the internet, call Dell up and talk to a sales rep.

They work on commission so chances are you can either receive a MUCH better discount or at least get away with some free shit like free 1 day shipping, a free backpack, etc. If you get someone that's stubborn just hangup and try again. You wouldn't want that prick getting a portion of your money anyway, right?

Anyway, instead of writing a wall of text i'll post this.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/456885-aw-dell-ordering-advice-how-save.html

It's a good read for those that want to purchase an alienware and the best way of saving money.
