The problem with the pledge is that when I was a kid, and was made to recite it, I had no idea what it was. I was just saying something. I had no idea that I was literally "pledging my allegiance" or the significance of that. It was just something the teacher made us do. I didn't know that I had an option to ally myself with something. It was meaningless in the mind of a child. Although I'm not sure what the option would be otherwise as far as indoctrinating children to  a way of being (and I hate "training" children to choose the same choices we chose, by the way).

I too just recited without understanding. The worst part is that all parties of government haven't respected that pledge in many many years. Examples...
-We pledge allegiance to the country, not a person or group of people. We rely too heavily on a party system and it has divided the country far too much IMO.
-We live in a republic, not a democracy. Power lies with individuals, not the majority. Basically this means we make decisions based on documented founding principals (The Constitution) instead of majority rule. I'll be making an update to my post here about that soon.
-We are a country created with God in mind. Believe what you want about religion, but at least understand that our country was created with the belief that there is a God, he is good, and the country was build with this in mind.

The country was also in agreement about slavery. A slave is 3/5s of a person, right? Also, women were inferior and couldn't vote. This was all built into the language of our government. That doesn't mean, as we progress as a nation, we shouldn't progress that language to reflect a more modern, open, and understanding society that is made up of people of different sexes, races, and religions.

Teach it as history or heritage, but I don't think you can use it as a springboard to say Christianity should stay infused in our politics. I still think we're a long long way away from the "Christian nation" loosening its grip on politics, though.

Where was slavery specified in the Constitution?
Women were not excluded from anything on paper until the 14th amendment in 1868. The amendment to limit voting to males only didn't come until the 15th amendment in 1870. How are these things related to the original founding?

I try to watch it at least once a day.  Every now and then I'll pick up something subtle that I didn't notice before.

The scene where Agent Gray is talking about Zion exploiting the code to awaken the remaining humans is my new favorite.  Starting at 3:53, the timing of the music is absolutely exquisite.  It reminds me of so many scenes from The Dark Knight whenever the Joker was on the screen.  The music is just a continuous play of two or three notes that very slowly rise in pitch.  It almost sounds like stretchin violin strings to the point of snapping, except they never snap.

The tension that noise creates is almost torturous if you pay enough attention to it.  The notes just keep rising, and rising, and rising, and rising.

Then Agent Gray says "The complete irradication of the human race", and the strings finally release.  That kind of "punch" can really make an impact on an audience, even if they don't consciously realize it, and Adad pulled it off to perfection.

When I rewatch it I realize how much I screwed up filming. I'm in the wrong mood for the agent meeting, and on the spin around in the whiteroom I change moods twice... *facepalm*

You know you're tired when it takes you more than one second to react to hot coffee spilling onto your crotch.

On the plus side, my cubicle now smells like coffee and I get to work the rest of the day in track pants.

Well that's what you get for playing kinky sex games with your boyfriend all night long that numb your dick down that badly.

Don't believe everything you think.

tsk tsk... once again Lith kills a thread.

On a side note, Lith is one of my favorites. Completely unrealated to my previous comment :)
