And as Manic pointed out you need to void your warranty to do anything worthwhile.

Actually, I said you need to void the warranty if you want it to function like almost every other phone on the market.

My iPhone does plenty of things that I deem worthwhile.

Y'know, before I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey, I used to think the iconography of the "big black monolith" was pretty cool.  I didn't know anything about it, so it had an air of mystery and intrigue.

And now that I've seen the movie... jesus christ what the fuck was that?  This is the sci-fi opera masterpiece that has survived so many decades?

Can somebody help me understand the pile of shit I just spent two and a half hours staring at?

To whomever purchased the Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition - did you enjoy your scratched up, plastic Batarang?  I thought it was a bit disappointing, to be honest...I guess you can't box a deadly weapon with a videogame!

Basically the monolith is pure knowledge, without it, we would still be monkeys. It isn't a movie you watch to be entertained, lol. It's been a long time since I've watched it, but I'm pretty sure that was the jist of it.

(some would be lead to believe their iPhone is that big black monolith, ahaha)

I got that part, and that was all in the first 30 minutes of the movie.  I just didn't see the need for the remaining two hours, most of which is just watching space stations floating around in blackness.

If the film consisted of just the first half hour, and the last half hour, it would have been kickass.

The message I got from the film was that human's had progressed so far they imbued their own image/knowledge into another dumb "lifeform," HAL 9000 (artificial intelligence). And just as with the monkeys, it turned violent and killed as a step toward advancement/evolution.

From there you can take a cynical or idealistic attitude on the meaning, but my own interpretation is the goal of advancing forward is ultimately a return to the source of one's existence.

Nice Tbone... a whole foods market.  I have been shopping at one of those for a couple of years now.  Mainly because my Fiancee is allergic to everything under the sun and thats the only place around that has baking goods she can use.  That place is somewhat on the expensive side though.

@Subb: Hate you. *Checks watch* Damn it's not even September yet? The PC version is never gonna come out!

@Pirus: Yeah, I won't go shopping there. I gotta find what's considered "cheap" in this area...hah.
