Porn is 18, but there was a discussion in parliment a few years ago about lowering the age to buy porn down to 16/Age of consent.

Ok now I'm confused. I know it works this way in the states also, but how is it that the absurdity of it hasn't hit anyone yet?

A person can be legally mature enough to make the decision to have sex, but they may not be legally mature enough to make the decision to purchase images of sex? It just seems backwards.

And in some states, you have to be 21 to marry without parental consent. But you can go and get yourself shot at?

As far I have always been told, if you get drafted (or just join) you're allowed to drink at the military bars at 18.

Because at 18 you can vote on the policies that may or may not get you drafted.

If I remember correctly, the minimum age for the draft was originally 16.  Kids were being sent to war by men they couldn't have voted for or against.

I think its ironic/sad/funny as hell that I get ALL of my political news from The Daily Show and the Colbert Report.... and it is probably the least biased of the news on..
