You're correct; she wasn't forced to do drugs. However, Sam Lutfi, the manipulator, admits to crushing drugs and putting it into her drinks on many different occasions. Britney's mother, Lynne, chronicles all of that in her new book that she released recently.

Moreover, when you're not in the right state of mind, due to whatever treatable mental illness she has, the things people say to you may have a different effect on you than they normally would. If, say, Sam Lutfi told Britney that taking this pill or drinking this drink would make her feel better (and, remember, she was NOT in the right state of mind), she would be inclined to believe him, and would then take the drink, eventually believing anything and everything he says.

I'm not defending what she did; it was stupid. I'm just trying to paint a more complete picture and see everything from both sides. The important part is is that the past is the past; she's done being crazy and is on the road back to living her life.
