Ron Paul doesn't believe in Evolution...

The reason Ron Paul doesn't believe in Evolution is wrong, but it's not entirely wrong to scientifically disagree with the theory. Statistically, humans are a genetic anomaly among all the other species of the planet. Thriving in your environment does not mean you need to develop intelligence beyond that which will allow you to live, procreate, defend territory and come to a sustainable balance with your resources. By the theory of evolution, there is nothing that should have prompted a necessity for intelligence and humans should therefore not exist. However, a genetic mutation occurred and was sustained long enough to produce a new species. Genetic mutations happen all the time, even now while you're sitting there reading this. It is simply statistically an out lier that you're able to read this.

People who quaff at the big bang theory, evolution of humans and even the search for E.T. life and instead use a personified God, miracles, and unapproachable mechanisms to explain everything are simply afraid of taking the "leap of faith" science requires. That leap of faith to me is maintaining an open mind and reveling in the beauties and horrors of the universe.

In case you didn't all ready know, I label myself a Pantheist, which translated means God = All. That is to say, the more you learn, create, understand everything that is, was and will be, the closer you come to being one with God. We see this mentality in a variety of practices, Taoism  to name one.

Does that mean I'm not a Christian? Perhaps not in the esoteric sense, but think of it like this. A "rational" scientist would conclude that Jesus was not a divine being, did not rise from the dead and was not the son of God, did not save us from some pending destruction by an omnipotent being  and  is therefore not worthy of having a religion named after him. Jesus was just a mortal human, very approachable, tangible. Poetry and storytelling aren't always meant to be taken literally, so no, he didn't rise from the dead after being killed. However this is where I differ from atheists. I believe every form of energy and matter to be "God" and therefore, Jesus was a "son" of "God." His doctrines and self-sacrifice did, in my opinion "save" humanity. Like other important messengers like Ghandi or Dr. King, Jesus helped spread positive ideas about how to live life and treat others. It is because of the significance of his message and teachings I believe he is worth having a religion centered around him. I don't agree with conformist religion because the definition of religion is "a set of beliefs and practices" and that should be personal.
