Unfortunately, Brittney needs more than a No. 1 hit album to redeem her career at this point.  I do agree that it may seem unfair that they "changed the rules" just before/during/after the numbers came in, but I doubt it had to do with a mission to assasinate Brit's career.  I think the rules were going to change at some point and regardless of when this was done, someone's album was going to be affected by it.

Unfortunately, a majority of people don't think for themselves and form their own opinions and will thus be led around by the nose by "the charts".   This is the ONLY thing that makes the Billboard Charts so influential.  Regardless of where any artist falls on the charts, if people actually like what they put out, that is what will determine the success for failure of their career.  So, if Brit gets her act together and focuses on actually improving her singing/writing game, her position on the Billboard Charts will not stop her.  The people talking crap based on those Billboard Chart positions will soon eat their words if they are wrong and her day will come.  Its just not today.

Unfortunately there are multiple factors that come into play with Billboard Charting positions and 99% of it has to do with statistics, not actual music quality or talent.
