This weekend, I watched my mom throw down 14 grand at Best Buy.  Not $1,400.  $14,000.  Three zeros.  The receipt was four feet long.  I measured.

I'm still in a haze from the experience.  It was like she was buying groceries or something.  She has a money tree somewhere, and my god I'm going to find it!

Three top-of-the-line plasma TVs (a 52" and two 47") with wall mounts and accompanying HDDVD players, cables, heavy duty surge protectors, a Dyson vaccum, an external power supply for her computer... and... my god I can't even remember the rest.

A percentage of the price went towards delivery, because the TVs she wanted weren't in stock.  And even if they were, she couldn't possibly fit them all into her Honda Pilot.

She's having a cabin (it's really more like a mansion made of logs) built up in the mountains out here, and she's outfitting it with the most insane myriad of gadgets.  She's even buying a Wii for it.  Some of the things she's having installed I didn't even know existed.  But the TVs will be trucked out in the coming weeks.

She asked me to accompany her to Best Buy as her electronics consult in case the sales rep tried to sling some bullshit at her, which he did, and I had the distinct pleasure of calling him on it.

I asked her if she wouldn't mind dropping an extra $1200 on a new iMac for me.  I figured that's just pocket change for her, but she refused.  :(
