French bread last night. Didn't take any snapshots of it though cause my family basically removed it from existence. Quickly.

Tempura.

Starting from the top: Bell pepper (had orange, red, and green), sweet potato, squash, broccoli, chicken, shrimp, and onions. I also had eggplant but it went quickly.

Heat a few cups of peanut oil in the base of a wok. Only enough oil to cover one side or another of each item, but not submerge. In bowl, mix water and pastry flour with chopsticks so that it is not completely smooth, but still has small clumps of flour in it. dip three items at a time MAX into the batter and cook, one side at a time in the heated oil. Vegetables should take no longer than 30-45 seconds. Meats should take no longer than 2 minutes tops. With hardier vegetables (carrots, celery), cook until desired tenderness has been reached, without burning batter. The end result, regardless your morsel of choice, should be tender on the inside, and a crispy outside dipped in the 'sauce'.

Mix one part (half cup) sake, one part oil, and two parts soy sauce with one part (tablespoon) grated ginger, with two parts sugar. Serve alongside as dipping sauce.

The way I did this, I moved the kitchen island (more of a skinny, tall, stainless steel workbench) over next to the kitchen table and took everyone's orders. Served sticky rice on the side to go with, but most everyone got full from what they ordered. :)

Man, I need to stop buying McDonald's and get some real food.  Looks good!

I recognize that song, it's the Dr. House theme!

Nah, really the mixture was based off another dip (I cut out the wasabi) and I basically went nuts and experimented with. The key is the grated ginger being brought out by the sugar, both of which are catalyzed by the contrast of the soy/sake.

Never seen House, heard of it and seen previews though. Looks good, but normally I'm watching Scrubs. Its probably the only TV I ever bother watching nowadays. Doctor Cox is my hero. The man can deliver a mile-long monologue skewering you the whole way through.
