Well, regardless if you will be there, I'm going! Washington DC! October 30, 2010! A date of no significance! Why??

Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs?

Because we're looking for those people. We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.

Are you one of those people? Excellent. Then we'd like you to join us in Washington, DC on October 30 -- a date of no significance whatsoever -- at the Daily Show's "Rally to Restore Sanity." Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) -- not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point.

Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while.

America, the Greatest Country God ever gave Man, was built on three bedrock principles: Freedom. Liberty. And Fear -- that someone might take our Freedom and Liberty. But now, there are dark, optimistic forces trying to take away our Fear -- forces with salt and pepper hair and way more Emmys than they need. They want to replace our Fear with reason. But never forget -- "Reason" is just one letter away from "Treason." Coincidence? Reasonable people would say it is, but America can't afford to take that chance.

So join The Rev. Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, D.F.A. on October 30th for the "March to Keep Fear Alive"â„¢ in Washington DC. Pack an overnight bag with five extra sets of underwear -- you're going to need them. Because, to Restore Truthiness we must always... Shh!!! What's that sound?! I think there's someone behind you! Run!

I'm totally going to this. Anyone in the neighborhood is welcome to join me! Or fly in for it! Sounds like reasonable fun!

I'll bet you $1000 to the charity of your choice it doesn't get close to the size of the Restoring Honor rally.

With that said, if I wasn't there a few weeks ago I'd be there for this as well.

I don't think the point is to get to the same numbers. I mean, the "Restoring Honor" rally had what, over 6 months to build hype? This is happening in a month.

Also "Restoring Honor" was about "show up if you're a Christian who loves Jesus" while Stewart's rally is "show up if you can get the day off and have nothing better to do". Shit, anything on Facebook with the name 'Jesus' is instantly going to spread b/c "oh crap, this says 'Like if you love Jesus' and if I ignore it then I'm ignoring Jesus!"

Plus Glen Beck fanatics are all old rich people. Stewart fanatics are all stoners - they don't have the cash to make a trip to DC...lol.

Ok I think we aregoing to meet up at the Smithsonian metro around 11 am. So far it is me, Dag, tincanhitman, and maybe Yotogi. I also have some other friends who may join me.

I love John Stewart. I'm also really sad I can't get to DC.

So I wussed out after walking toward the metro station and getting stuck in a line (5 people wide line) a block from the entrance... (1 of 4 entrances to the station, the others were also backed up a block away). There was easily a crowd of 3000 people gathered (with dozens of people coming every minute) just waiting for trains to head to the national mall. I image most metro stations were like that. Cops were shouting for people to get off the train platform because it was so full.

I haven't seen that since the Obama inauguration. The news reports were saying tens of thousands expected to show up. If that metro station is any indication, it's more like hundreds of thousands. Good luck surviving T and TinCan.

Sorry I was not able to meet up with anyone! I could not get any reception at the mall and could not get off work in the evening, so I am currently rushing to get back to Arlington.

If I hadn't lived in the area for a while, there would have been no way I would have made it. The crowd ended up stretching all the way to the Washington monument! I ended up near the family reunification tent! Heh! It was a lot of fun, though too much Roots!
