Either way, is scrolling that big of an issue?

I feel like if your resolution is that low, then you are probably used to scrolling.

I agree we need a loading screen. I thought we added one, but I guess it isn't working as intended.

So after taking a swing at it with my mac, which is practically useless as it is since it's still running OSX 10.4, it looks great but has some long loading times without anything to tell you stuff is happening.
I'm really impressed from a visual standpoint though, and the performance undoubtably is affected by my house's crappy interntet, but whatever I won't live here much longer so who cares.

I think the solution for maximum compatibility might be to ditch the Flash site. Flash is dying anyway. I think something using Javascript or jQuery would be best compatible. I'm currently learning how to write it, so I'll try and make a mock up your Flash thing as practice. Might be a couple of weeks though.

It's flash, you can just scale and center to your page so it looks the same no matter what screen res you're running or even if someone doesn't run their browser maximized.  It's an easy fix.  Nothing even really needs be recoded.

Either way, just wanted to toss in my $.02

Could someone on a Mac please test again. I don't think this will fix the issue but I have changed the embedding method to use SWFObject.

Tested on Mac. Now the music plays and you can pause it, but none of the other parts of the site work. May I ask, with no offense intended whatsoever, why are we using Flash?

Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash) is a multimedia platform used to add animation, video, and interactivity to Web pages.

We wanted a site with animation, video, and interactivity. Do I need to go into more detail?

Thanks T. Though, I feel you're offended. I said "no offense intended". I wasn't saying it was a bad choice, just wondering specifically why it was made. There are other ways to add animation, video, and interactivity to a website. However, I'm assuming nobody knows Javascript, PHP, mySQL, and advanced HTML so as to make a fully compatible website without using Flash.

Let's see, I could teach myself 3 different things and make a crappy website or I could just save myself a lot of trouble and expand on the knowledge I already have with 1 product while at the same time making a pretty kickass site.

You do the math.

I suppose you don't know how to use that either, or you would have already noticed that the site you're posting on currently uses Javascript, PHP, mySQL, and HTML.

You don't seem satisfied with the results - or even Flash for that matter. You're treating it like I decided to do my final art project in crayon. There's no reason to have to create a mySQL database and code in three different languages for something as simple as a little teaser page with three or four bits of information.

If you aren't saying it was a bad choice, then why bring up other ways of doing it? Other than the Mac issue we are sorting through, why try to make the project more difficult than it has to be?

We've been working on the recruitment challenge in flash for months. I hope your comment AFTER we finish the whole thing isn't "you should have done the whole thing in Javascript". It's not very constructive feedback AFTER the project is already done.

It's an alternative, I think is all he was trying to say. Flash is a powerful tool, and probably the best option for this, but this whole mac thing is going to annoy a few people. What we need to think of is a fix, or another way of going about it.

As far as feedback AFTER the project is already done, it's a bit immature to think that it's not constructive afterwards. Isn't that how we learn the most? Once you finish a project, being told what's wrong with it, so that you can learn from your mistakes?

Either way, has anyone posted on forums or anything like that to try and get some answers at some flash forums or something?

I specifically said "no offense intended" because I knew someone wouldn't take the criticism well.

No, I don't know how to "use" those things, but I know what they are, and I know they are in use on the page. Just like I know what Flash is, so I don't need you to talk down to me like I'm a child.

No, I'm not satisfied with the results. Am I obligated to be, just because the FA is working on it?

My main computer is a Mac, so it is a useless challenge to me as an individual user. I don't know if you need SQL or not. I can't see the challenge, so I have no idea what it needs or doesn't need.

If you can fix the Mac thing, then it's the greatest choice in the history of mankind. Until then, it's not up to par, IMO.

From the beginning, I was just curious about the decision since I wasn't here when it was made. I was curious if other alternatives were considered. I was curious if they could be implemented. I just wanted some clarity, and instead I got insecurity and rudeness from the person that's supposed to be leading by example.
