I'm very surprised. They revamped the whole game, it looks like. It's gone from a third person, cartoony objective-based game to what looks like a decent-quality FPS game with MMO aspects.

Games like this have been tried before *cough* Crimecraft *cough* with little success. At the very least, it looks like combat will be more interesting. Anyone got a link to the video we saw a year ago? I swear the combat is completely different.

Nintendo 3DS

I'm not big into consoles or handhelds, but this did catch my attention. I had mostly ignored this device until I read an article about it at E3. Apparently Nintendo has managed to accomplish the 3D effect very well without the need for glasses. If it could be done on any device, I would say it could be done on handhelds. The reviewers I read/watched seemed extremely impressed/surprised/blown away by the 3DS. There were no games you could actually play at the demo, but you could rotate the camera around a couple of animations and there were movie demos as well. Speaking of movies, apparently the 3DS will be able to play 3D movies in 3D.

What this really has me thinking about is the future of 3D. I don't think the big technology that requires glasses will take off, but if the 3DS is a big success, I see an iPhone 3D in our future. I could also see 3D laptops that don't require glasses...and maybe even desktops. Situations that require a wider, deeper viewing angle, however, like console gaming or home theater entertainment, will probably just be an "extra feature" sort of thing, rather than the industry standard the way it could becoming for handhelds/smartphones.
