I have yet to see Avatar in 3-D. Just regular. Is there really that much of a difference? Do the glasses hurt your ears?

3D TVs are the big "next thing" at all the technology conventions. I guess they really think it's going to be a big deal. I guess we'll see...

I miss the old days of good storytelling, good direction, and amazing character actors. Everything else is a crutch if the movie alone cannot stand by itself without sound, CGI, and now 3D.

I dunno how the whole 3-D thing is gonna turn out honestly.  If they can do it in a way that people won't need special glasses then it'll for sure take off....but if people have to wear glasses then it's for sure not gonna fly....

I think it's a stupid technology fad, but EVERYONE is pushing it. Every third movie out is in 3D and as Tbone said, TV is about to go that way too. I usually hate it and it bugs my eyes, BUT Avatar was incredible in 3D.  Truly a masterpiece.  Most movies just use it as a way to freak you out when they make it look like things are flying at you and shit.  Avatar just utilizes it to enhance its incredible beauty.

As for The Matrix in 3D, we all know we all will buy it and I'm intrigued

Yeah, "The Sun" reported that which means it isn't true. I think they were the ones who said Al Pacino was going to have a cameo in the last one...

3D is stupid. And has point of view issues. To get a good 3D you need blocking glasses that physically close off the eyes--and still it isn't the greatest thing ever. 3D currently works by using two projectors. One that projects light 'vertically' and one that projects light 'horizontally.' One lens blocks the horizontal and one blocks the vertical and you get a cheap sense of depth.

Seriously though.  Imagine Neo's first bullet time scene, with that first bullet from the agent flying past Neo's shoulder and right into your face.  The swooping camera angles of the burly brawl.  Trinity falling out of the building.  All the rainfall of the super burly brawl.

The trilogy would be fucking awesome in 3D.  I don't care how gimmicky it is.
