The soundtrack to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is... well... excellent!  *Air guitar*

It makes me sad that kids today have to grow up with algorithmically generated, auto-tune-laden, Pro Tools bullshit.  I wonder if they know what a real drum set sounds like.

Bill & Ted's is an awfully shit film... so shit it's good. Pro Tools is awesome, I wouldn't diss it in a million years but I agree on the auto-tuning shite. Real Drum kits are used much more often than you'd think - it suprised me and I'm a drummer :/

I was making a broad generalization with the quip about Pro Tools.  It is a great program and it does have plenty of legitimate uses, but I'm talking about the "bands" who sample 10-15 seconds of digital instruments, and then copy+paste it out into a 3-5 minute song.

Listening to music that was made 20+ years ago is a completely different experience.  You can just tell that there is something different about it.  It's the equivalent of receiving a hand-written piece of mail through the standard postal service, versus getting an email on your cell phone.

I agree with the twenty year ago quote - listening to Led Zeppelin in something completely different (and in someways better) than most of the shit you hear on the Radio today ala Rap music, Lady GaGa, almost any type of pop music and RnB. *cringe*

I usually prefer music with as few lyrics as possible.  I've been listening to a lot of post-rock for the last few years.  Here is a small selection of my favorites.

The Album Leaf - "Window"; Excellent song to listen to on a rainy day.

Explosions In The Sky - "The Birth and Death of Day"; Good motivator music.

God Is An Astronaut - "Rememberance Day"; Another rainy day song, but a little more upbeat.

God Is An Astronaut - "Infinite Horizons"; Melancholy made audible.

Mogwai - "Acid Food"; Yet more rainy day music.  Noticing a trend yet?

I know what you mean Manic, one of my favorite songs as of late. I first heard it from Mad V.

The main songs I've been getting  into since the album was released has been E.S Posthumus.

Furious since 2006.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but this is my friend Bill, we hung out all the time in high school. He was the one who introduced me to jungle, drum&bass, breakbeats, and overall music you'll never hear on the radio like aphex twin and photek. As well he taught me the importance of true fidelity in music, getting quality audio components, i.e. the music should be crisp and awesomeness on its own without having to turn on bass boost or turn on a preset eq.

Celldweller - Frozen
Celldweller - I Believe You
Celldweller - Last Firstborn
Celldweller - Symbiont
Celldweller - So Sorry to Say

I always felt the Celldweller album was a solid go-to Matrix-style (industrial/electronic) rock album.

Everyone's favorite, with the good lead-in intro.

I listen to all types and genres (minus hip-hop... Kanye can kiss my ass). Recently I've been listening most to...

The Flashbulb

Free*Land

Photek

Squarepusher

Pendulum

And fo course the old favorites, such as Atreyu, Rob Dougan, Juno Reactor, My Chemical Romance, AFI, 30 Seconds to Mars and others.

Recently though I found this beauty from my all time favorite RPG ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1LAhY_uRnI I've transcribed it to the piano, and it's been suck in my head for god knows how long.

Good choices. At one time I had nearly all of Pendulums archive - but it's been a while since I sold my tables and mixer. =(

Armin Van Buuren - Universal Religion Ch 4

I got this from a friend over Christmas and have got to say it is some of his best work I've heard.

Here's a link to Amazon's site where you can listen to snippits of it if you are so inclined.
