Once you're in penn, if you take the turnpike, you're only 4-4.5 hours away!

I have, over the past four years come to greatly enjoy one game; mxo.

The graphics and excitement was such as I had never experienced in a game before - and have not since. Although I always enjoyed mxo it was not till the server merge that I grew to love it.

My first faction was priory of Zion although one day my captain was unfortunately booted from the faction (and me with him). I was then rather much a free agent;)

Sometime after, whilst I was considering the server merge I came  across dagonet and asked what he would be doing. He mentioned that he  would be seeking to join a faction called the furious angels "a  hardcore gamers group who were seriously into rp".

Shortly after the server merge I happened across a low level zion member getting his arse kicked by two or three reds. He was FA and although seriously outnumbered he did not roll out but he fought, bloody well, and had such dignity even in defeat (I of course rolled in and caned the reds) but my lesson was learnt - keep your mouth shut and let your actions speak as to who you were in game. From that moment I was hooked on joining FA and found my angel to follow -  orien.

He was unfortunately not that helpful (not least as I thought that it was actually him I was speaking to on the challenge and I could never find him in game to ask questions of). After two weeks or so (mostly as I had no clue on how to input information in a computer like fashion) and after patient but suitably vague assistance from dag I found myself at the door armed with the truth and a suitably red feather.

Here is where the story started for me.

A few days after being roundly ignored by FA members in and around  mara c I got my email asking about interviews and teamspeak etc. Once I found out about teamspeak that was pretty much curtains for me! I expected a group of true geeks and valued my anonymity! I procrastinated and then went out and bought a mic. Pretty much my first time online with my microphone all hooked up dag (under the pretence of being  helpful) tricked me into the waiting room!

Once there this very gruff  American came into the room and started telling me how my interview would pan-out; I did not feel up to telling Broin that it was one clock in the morning, that I had no headphones and his voice was booming around my rather small flat on the Holloway Road (and a considerably younger chloe was trying to get some sleep in the next door room). I rattled on through the interview and obviously did not do that badly.

A few days later (march 17 2006 in fact) broin met me at a hardline (Richland somewhere, I cannot remember where) and I was FA. I am actually a rather sensible chap but the sense of achievement at that moment was really quite special.

It was in the days, weeks, months and years following that that I came to appreciate what an amazing group of people I had the fortune to play with. I already knew a number of you, dag, saf, pirus, subb, dmax etc from heuristic but I was welcomed with open arms by you others and I feel privileged to call a large number of you my friend. For a team of six (or two teams of six if evigilos was not around) of us to consistently take on more than double our numbers and win was amazing for me.

Our pride in our appearance and our dedication to not letting any one member of the team go down enabled us to reach such great heights that we were vilified and respected in equal measure by our friends and our enemies.

Of course, we won pretty much every event we entered (remember that idiot stealing our info from Bluevayne when we came first, second and third in that fighting competition - http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=10400102667&#10400102763); the Olympics, server v FA (twice remember, we held them back both times even though we were outnumbered five to one or so) – link to one of em here! http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/posts/list.m?topic_id=36300018933).

As to you new members who have joined us since we left MXO (and before it left us) take a moment to understand that the reason we think we are the dogs bollocks is because we are! No one could touch us and when we find a game that sparked our imagination as much as the one 20 or so of us said goodbye to yesterday you will witness it for yourself – hang around a while longer and get back involved in our forums and TS whilst we all work out what is next!

Anyway, not sure what has come over me as it is very much conduct unbecoming of a Brit to be honest with their emotions;) but as I said, I just wanted to say what I feel about being part of a group like ours.
Tally ho.

The day after...
Reading Nocry's post, reflecting upon his thoughts has inspired me to do a little of the same.  (And I'm sure I'm not the only one).

For me, the allure of the angel began in beta.  From the minute I heard of the production of this game, I was in it for the long haul.  And from the beginning there was one group whose name was already synominous with the future of the Matrix world, the Furious Angels.  Even before the game was out they were the best known faction in Mega City and I couldn't help but want to strive to be a part of that.  They were the most elite, yet humble force I had ever witnessed in a game,  and their selection process only made them more appealing.  Only the best of the best were allowed to spread their wings with them.

Much like NoCry, my roots started with the Priory of Zion.  I had chosen the wrong server to be a part of if I wanted to be an angel.  But, the server merge gave me new life as well.  I can recall passing the challenge in 3 days, with a little help from my old Priory mate and new angel, Da6onet. (Though, like NoCry my angel was Orien.)  A few days later I finally hounded Boin and Tbone enough with PMs that they agreed to interview me.  Meeting Tbone was something special.  It was honestly right up there with Morpheus or Niobe, he was an icon and his unit of angels were a driving force behind the story of the Matrix. His importance came with the burdon of a busy schedule, so he did not have the time to lead my interview and passed it onto Broin.  I did not realize it that day, but quickly learned just how pivotal he was to the world as well.

I recall how nervous I was there in TS.  Butterflies overwhelmed my stomach.  Luckily for me, we did not do an in game interview, or I may have beeneven more intimidated by the force in the same room with me.  Needless to say I was accepted, and it only took the one opportunity for me to stay until the end (though the end is still far far off I know I will be part of it).

Memories of days with the angels are numerous.  Fighting Machines, destroying Mervs, running mission afte mission for Zion.  We dominated Mega City, no ifs ands or buts about it.  Too many memories to count, almost all of them were great.

As for the final day.  those of you that were part of us understand when I say Fuck The Flower.  The devs managed to ruin the final day of the greatest game we ever played. Luckily one was nice enough to get us into the White Room for some sanctuary.  In the Real, we partied and celebrated together as if we were old friends.  We never truly met before, most of us, but we got along immediately and had a blast.  When it came to an end, the Angels once again stood tall, creating a V formation in front of Mara's church for all to see.  When the system warned us to wake up, one final salute went out from Tbone's angels, and it was done.

Our legacy will live on, and we will thrive in a new world, but for now, it is a bitter sweet day after.
