That's wicked. Must have taken so much effort!

I had a birthday party last year where everyone had to come as video game characters. I looked utterly ridiculous in a Princess Peach costume. Some others came in highly impressive outfits such as Cloud, the spy from TF2, Sam&Max, and even Pacman. Highly recommended as a party theme!

Edit for pics or it didn't happen:

Leisure Suit Larry games were really good. All those 80s-90s Sierra games were good

Dude, that's so cool.  I'm actually making a Link cosplay with my buddy for next year for a friend, with me making the sword/shield and him making the mail.
It's pretty funny and exciting to hear that some of you also cosplay; I just got back from a Con this weekend. (Fanime Con, to be precise.  It's the only one I've been to since it's local, though I've gone for 5 years.)

Totally diggin' the mail, man.  It's so cool.

Cool!

I didn't think anyone did that typa stuff on here either. What are you making the sword and shield out of?

I'm making the base out of both out of wood and coat them with fiberglass resin. It'll be the first time I use the stuff so I hope it all goes well >_<

I haven't started the shield yet, but the Master Sword will be made of a big mishmash of materials.  The blade is aluminum (to keep it light) and will have Wonderflex (a thermoplastic) laid over it, and the handle is wood and will also be overlaid with Wonderflex.  The hilt and pommel are going to be XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) foam with, again, Wonderflex laid over it.
If the Wonderflex doesn't work out as well as I predict, I'll be using fiberglass resin.

The sword is totally not meant to be functional; the goal is to keep it incredibly lightweight and looking pretty.  After all, it's for cosplayers who will be posing for pictures all day, and I know from personal experience that the last thing they want is to lug around heavy props...

Yup, i've thought about wonderflex but *shrug*

Wood with a good base coat, spray paint, and sealer can come out pretty decent. The wood we use is pretty lightweight so it shouldn't be so bad with the fiberglass... i hope :P

Well, i think i'm gonna be posting some slight updates here so everyone knows i didn't die or lose interest in the game.

http://img190.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moto0183.jpg  *Taken on my cell =/*

It looks better on me since it's made to fit my head and not that freaky alien looking wig bust.

I'll see if i can get a better picture on my girlfriend's camera. That cap is about 80% done and only needs some detail stichings and then i'm off to making the tunic, leather belt straps, shield, Master sword, and Sheathe =/.

I like how you put "death" and "losing interest in the Darkfall" on the same level.  Spoken like a true gamer, sir!

Oh, and not to thread-jack but I also haven't been on Darkfall (obvious to those in TS who HAVEN'T seen me there).  First it was Finals, then afterwards my brother came back for the summer and had the brilliant idea to swap our modem and routers for newer ones.  Needless to say it didn't work out so well, so I'm stuck on a twitchy, temperamental connection that won't let me play Darkfall.  I'll be back eventually, I swear it!  (Maybe it's not so disastrous, since the NA server is coming in July and we'll be starting over anyway)

ON a more pertinent note, I'm diggin' the cap.  Keep updating us on your progress; I, at least, am interested in seeing how it pans out in the end.

Cools, will do!

I don't think i'll have the time to dabble with Fiberglass so i might make the sword out of something more easier to manage till i have time to learn the tips and tricks of Fiberglass. As for the cap, i'm gonna try and maybe fill it with stuffing to give it the same floaty look it has in Twilight Princess.

Well, here's more of a semi update. I'll get a full pic of everything once i get my hands on a damn camera instead of my phone =/

Been mostly at work instead of doing this (Plus some Prototype was in order :P)

but here's a little taste until i finish detailing my tunic.

I plan on going with red contacts, black face paint, styled wig and latex ears.

The works ^_^
