What Arch has been doing....

Alright, those of you that know me know that i am a child at heart, love video games, and that i'm a HUGE nerd...

With that being said i know i have not been around the past few days but it's not because i'm not enjoying DFO by a LOONG shot...

i've had trouble prying myself off the game to get a personal project done that i've been working with my girlfriend. Since we had planned to finish this for July we're starting to run out of time and need to devote a little more time to it.

I know i've played a bit of TF2 since the lastest update but most of my time was used to stuff like this.

Now for those of you that don't know, Me and my girlfriend are nerds and like cosplay, anime, and of course Video Games. This chainmail was done completely by hand and has been worked on and off for about 5 months... Recently me and her have been pulling an overhaul to get this done. We still need to make the tunic, sword, shield, and other various props. This is for a Dark Link (The Legend of Zelda / Smash Bros. Brawl for those few that don't know ) Costume that i'm gonna be wearing at a Con

For the next few weeks i'll be trying to be as active as possible while still working on this personal project but know that i might not be able to be as active as i normally am until after July.

Edit: Oh yeah... The only picture i have of it finished is with my sisters new cat... I was playing around with her while my gf took the pictures

A-Con? I went a couple of years ago and actually really enjoyed it. I'm not as big into Anime as a friend of mine, but still had a blast watching all the cool costumes and avoiding the BO!

Which Con do you attend?

I had a birthday party last year where everyone had to come as video game characters. I looked utterly ridiculous in a Princess Peach costume. Some others came in highly impressive outfits such as Cloud, the spy from TF2, Sam&Max, and even Pacman. Highly recommended as a party theme!

Yeah there were only two of me as I am as camera shy as any other self respecting geek. The blurry one was taken towards the end of the night, go figure ;-) The other one is copyright Nintendo, sorry.

@Sharpek - I go to a few little cons here in Florida like Anime Supercon, Yasumicon, and hopefully the new Infinite bits con. It was made from 16 Gauge silver plated copper wiring. We used a knife sharpener to coil it and cut the rings and connected them together. It's purely for aesthetics though so no, it cannot take a sword stab... maybe a swipe though

@Subb - Me and my girlfriend started around December and it has been an on and off thing but it's finally done and we can finally start on the tailoring portion of the costume.

@Likwid - Yup... i look like shit in those pics and need a haircut... otherwise yup, i'm a pretty normal hispanic looking dude

It's pretty funny and exciting to hear that some of you also cosplay; I just got back from a Con this weekend. (Fanime Con, to be precise.  It's the only one I've been to since it's local, though I've gone for 5 years.)

Totally diggin' the mail, man.  It's so cool.

I didn't think anyone did that typa stuff on here either. What are you making the sword and shield out of?

I'm making the base out of both out of wood and coat them with fiberglass resin. It'll be the first time i use the stuff so i hope it all goes well >_<
