I read Asimov's book a long time ago, so I'm a little shady on the specifics, but I remember it being an excellent novel. As for the movie, I'm a little nervous about seeing, as I've read the book and we all know how that tends to go. But from what I'm hearing on here, I guess it's worth it.

From what I've heard, it's nothing like the book. Though I could be thinking of something else, and I have nothing to base that on other than hearsay, as I've neither seen the movie or read the book.

From what I've heard, the movie wasn't originally written with Asimov's book in mind.  It had a different title and everything, but they decided to call Asimov's estate and ask for permission to use some of his ideas and the title of his book "I, Robot".  They got permission and used the 3 laws of robotics and a few names of Isaac's characters, but kept their own storyline.

Ah, I didn't know that. I was under the impression that it was basically another director's attempt at mutilating a popular sci-fi classic. Well that's good I suppose, at least I'll be less critical about it.

Just saw it today, and I've got to admit it was pretty good.

The CG Robots are amazing. I love the part where they are all moving in sync.

The movie was pretty good. Not great. Better than the Matrix Sequels, as this actually had a pretty strong storyline, and better acting for what it was. This and Spider-Man 2 are two completely different animals though, so I'm somewhat torn on which I'd consider better. Overall I'd say Spider-Man 2, as the acting, writing, action sequencies, humor, etc. etc. are all much better. Will Smith just isn't funny in this movie, also, he's extremely limited in range as an actor. He ends up playing himself in every movie he's in.

Also, they used some pretty bad surprise techniques. When you make a movie and purposely do everything in your power to make somebody look like the bad guy, and leave absolutely no clues or hints at all that it could be somebody else, then the surprise isn't very effective. I mean yeah, I was surprised when I found out the head-hancho was VICKI, but it's kind of like "Well, I should have guessed, since pretty much EVERY fucking robot movie has some super Skynet computer turning out to be the villian." And the more you think about it, the more it's just kind of like "Well they basically told us nothing that would lead us to believe it'd be VICKI, so why should I care?"

Also, I REALLY hate it when people without super-powers are able to do retarded stunts no human being alive could accomplish on the spot. For instance: When Smith is on his motorcycle, drives it up a car turned into a ramp, and while he's flying through the air he pulls out two pistols, takes out two or three robots while still in the air, then BACKFLIPS off the motorcycle and sends the bike into several more robots, finally landing on his feet.

Fuck that. Just once I'd like to see somebody try something that stupid, fall on his face, have half his flesh get skinned off of his skull, and then he has to be rushed to a hospital for a broken neck along with extreme tissue damage.

When you start making people do Matrix shit like that without a good reason for it, it just makes me take the movie less seriously.

Other than that, it was pretty decent.

maybe i'm just less critical... or perhaps easier to entertain.  I didn't think any of that when I was watching it.  I was totally dumbfounded and completely entralled.  I really really liked it.

I enjoyed the movie greatly. I really think it gives examples of how machines can have DREAMS!! *wink* *Wink* Jester *wink* *wink* And how they can have emotions. This was a great movie indeed.

Also I was glad to hear that:

1. Blade is coming out with a 3rd movie! Yup Yup! Of course the 2nd could have been better, but hey isn' there a saying about the 3rd time around? It's called Blade Trinity and it comes out in Dec.

2. I know most of you probably have atleast heard about Alien vs. Predator. But now it's coming to life! Come August we're going to be seeing the war in action! I don't think they should only talk about the war though, but give some synopsis of how it started, and what's been going on until the movie's release.

3. We all know about Resident Evil 2.

Go and see ALL these movies. I promise you won't, or atleast most of us, won't be disappointed. :D

What was the last good movie based on a video game you saw?

Huh? that's right nothing! Not even Final Fantasy. (Though Advent Children will be awesome)

So RE2 will suck, I promise.
