GATHERING LOTTERY!!!
« on: March 26, 2009, 02:23:41 pm »
This idea just came to me.

I'm proposing we hold a somewhat loose event - maybe 1-2 times each week.

The event will help boost everyone that is grinding up a gathering skill or trade skill. With the added benefit of more resources, everyone will skill up faster, feel less grind, and also have more time to spend on fighting - which everyone (myself included) thinks we should be doing more of.

So it would work like this.

The pool of people who want to participate each gather either a set number of nodes, or a set amount, or a set time 1-2 times each week for others. Everyone gets a day and we reset again.

For example, Jarimus, Likwid, Adad, and Knight participate. On Monday, everyone gathers wood for 1 hour and gives it to Adad. On Tuesday, everyone gathers herbs for 1 hour for Likwid. Next week, 1 hour metal for Jar on Monday, and fish for 1 hour for Knight on Tuesday.

It can be altered a lot of ways, especially if we just count nodes. So, do 3 nodes at some point and give it to whomever's week it is. We don't even have to do it at the same time, but that would just be a bonus to chill and talk about stuff in TeamSpeak.

I think it would be a good idea. I ran it by whomever was just in TS and no one said it sounded crazy. We just have to use the honor system, so np.

Please post here if you are interested in this. After we see who's interested, we can come to a concensus on the format.

I like this idea a lot.  Plus we have added protection of gathering in a group.

Good idea!

Good idea! I would like to participate. Even if I'm not in the lotto, I would come along for group farming.

I agree.

What we can do perhaps is split into seperate groups with one tradeskill profession per person (the aforementioned people can be in one group) and then another group consisting of the same or different professions ( For ex. Me - Archery / Tailoring if i get money >_<, Set - Cooking, Gypsy - Tailoring, etc.) so that we all get our days and mats to work with raising our Tradeskill.

The point of this is that i don't want there to be one grand person that everyone depends on for something.

Sure it's nice to have a main Guild Cook/Bowyer/Armorsmith etc. and it's not really a bad thing,  But it's always good to have a backup... cause those people aren't always online or readily available to you.

Either way, it's a Kick ass idea!

I like the sound of this, Jarimus.  It reminds me of coding parties we had back in MxO.  These events are always a great way to get to know your fellow Angels, and the additional resources will undoubtedly be beneficial to us.

Not to play Devil's advocate but this sounds a tad like a pyramid scheme.

What if your the guy assigned to receive loot on Thursday, and no one  is in-game to farm?  What incintive do the first few on the list have to make sure they login after they've received their loot?  What happens several weeks from now when we get distracted by some event leaving only a handful of  people  who received adequate loot amounts and the rest of the majority of players left without anything to show for alll their hard work?

Don'tt get me wrong, I think this has potential to be great and I think it shows real initiative for coming up with  it but I'd want to see some of these concerns put to rest before I sign on for it.

I agree, this idea has some great potential. I'll say again what I have said in the past, and that is that I don't intend to be to crafting/gathering oriented, mainly combat. However, my main concern assuming I were to adopt a crafting/gathering pastime would be getting pwnd while out doin stuff all by my lonesome. I like this idea because it encourages us to work in groups, and it goes without saying that there is safety in numbers.

Knight and I did this last night on a small level.  He helped me herb for an hour and I helped him fish for an hour.

It just makes it fun, gives you some added protection, and you feel like you're gathering more and faster.

This is a good idea, but why does everyone forget that I am working on weaponsmithing?

:p

Don't think anyone did Phienyx, but maybe. Anyways I'd be up for this but as for me getting a cut...I don't really craft heh :(

EDIT: I say if you're going to do this then let's get it known and start this week, if we could do 1-2 dedicated sessions every other day or something it'd be kick ass. The sooner we start the better.
