New job protecting you
« on: November 25, 2008, 11:23:52 pm »
Remember this thread from years ago?
http://thefuriousangels.com/index.php?topic=4258

Well last night I got the call. I was selected on board 0901 to become a Pilot for the Air Force. I have to do a flight physical and then head to Officer Training School where I will receive my commission and become a 2nd Lt. Then off to IFS and then UPT for flight training.

I have been working towards this for 2½ years and am thrilled to finally be where I am.

I am very thankful this Thanksgiving.

Thanks guys. =) Maybe now I can find out who Broin really is.

Fox one signifies the launch of a semi-active RADAR-guided missile (e.g., an AIM-7 Sparrow).
Fox two indicates that an IR-guided missile (e.g., an AIM-9 Sidewinder) has been launched.
Fox three signifies that an active RADAR-guided missile (such as the AIM-54C Phoenix) has been launched.

that is awesome man!!  I didnt want to say this before but they have so many guys coming from the academy and places of the like that it is really really hard to get in to a flying spot any other way... Your persistance really paid off and I guarantee someone noticed so just keep it up man.  Once again Congrats!!

Go ahead, make my day.

Yeah, AFA and ROTC fill most spot. OTS just fills in the gaps. I was non-select on 0803 where there were 722 apps and only 22 pilots slots given. ouch.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'll need prayers, BTW. Also a note: I WILL get my angel tat before training. Need that FA Angel looking over me while I'm away. =) I'll keep you guys up to date either on here or through lostlocalhost.com

This reminds me of back during the first Gulf War, I was going to a vocational school and the Director of the school was a reserve pilot. And he was well liked by most of the students and teachers.  I don't recall which branch he was but I believe I remember him saying that he few the A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog).  I remember him being called up for duty and he made the rounds of the school before he left and again when he came back.  I remember being in  a bit of awe when he was asked if he killed anyone.  His response was simply:  "Well, there are a few less enemies out there now."  That got a big cheer from the my classroom.

Pilots get and deserve much respect from me.  ....and not because of Top Gun.  I hate that dumb ass movie.

We're Angels, not saints.

Quote from: "Phienyx"
he was asked if he killed anyone.

Personally, I dislike people who ask Army/Air/Navy personnel that question. A complete utter twat at my school asked that to a nice bloke in the Army who was giving us a career talk at the time.

His words were: "did you kill many of them iraqi's?"

The guy's face dropped like a stone and said: "That's for me and my conscious and for you never to find out,"

My two cents :)

But I agree with you phienyx, anybody in the armed services that does a good job deserves respect.

Yes, different people deal with that part of combat differently.  But that is a question that I'll never ask any member of the armed forces.  I consider it bad manners at the least.  Much respect to them for what they do for us though.
