I have a PS3.

That should be all the evidence you need that Sony is the way to go.

Shit, I'm sold.

or you could do this:

buy the 360 this year, and buy the ps3 with next year's tax rebate. The great titles for it will have come out by then, plus it'll be a might bit cheaper.

May I ask why you decided the PS3 over the Xbox 360? I'm just curious. :)

Live was my biggest incentive to get a 360.  But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I like the idea of Live.  In practice I don't think it's the kind of service for me.

When I got my PS2, I played it night and day.  But eventually it got to the point where it was just my DVD player.  The last PS2 game I really put a lot of time into was Mortal Kombat Armageddon.  I think if I went with the 360, the same thing would happen.  It would get heavy use for about a couple years, I'd probably tinker with XBL just to see what it was like, but in the end it would become my DVD player and I'd be right back where I started.  I'd end up buying the PS3 anyway when I decided it was time to make the jump to Blu-Ray.  I loves me some movies.

Call me petty, but the fact that wireless functionality and rechargeable batteries are built in to the PS3 was a major selling point as well.

I get the sense that the PS3 will be of more value to me in the long run than the 360.

the only reason why you'll regret it later is just some of the 360 exclusive titles and most of you buddies being on live.  Otherwise it's a smart choice.  I feel as tho as ports to the ps3 are usually an afterthought as the ps3 graphics for port are usually a hair sub-par that of the 360 but the blu ray and free online play may make up for it.

Worst case scenario you'll just get a 360 later.  As I may after the next year or so get a blu ray.  I just depends on how many amazing exclusive must have titles come out for the ps3 in the next year or so.

I'm actually excited to hear some of your feedback about.  Let us know in depth how you like it.
