The reason that the rule is in place is because SOE developed shitty forums. Once they reach a certain number of posts, they start lagging because the forums tell the browser to load EVERY page within that thread.

Take, for example, the Ask a Dev thread 1.0. It lags like hell because there are so many pages (and, of note, that thread was originally created while the MXO boards were still on the original Lithium boards and not the in-house SOE boards...
