Fly Virus Strategy
« on: May 31, 2007, 04:17:09 pm »
There has been reports of a fly virus outbreak in Bathory Row - specifically near a warehouse in the Northwest corner. We're not sure how the fly virus is still around or what caused the outbreak, but the threat must be contained. Not only are Corrupted plaguinig the area, but lvl 100 Complete Corrupted are also abundant. Because of this, we must work together if we are going to make a difference.

I've arranged for a contact by the name of Fumigator to reward you with some new, optional white FA gear for your work. We've got a lot to do. Our projections show that each FA member must kill around 400 Corrupted and 5 Complete Corrupted (assuming each has proof of a kill) to make the biggest difference and earn all your gear. I hope to see you all on the battlefield.

This is what you need to get the new Gear released in Update 52.

Insecticide Code's(5):
Five Decaying Code's.

Patcher's Pill:

Ten Decaying Code's.

Patcher's Hat:
Two Decaying Code Archives.
Which when broken down it is 80 pieces of Decaying Code.

Patcher's Bandana:
1 Corrupted Code and 5 Decaying Code Archives.
Which when broken down it is 1 Corrupted Code and 200 pieces of Decaying Code.

Patcher's Headgear:

Five Corrupted Code's and Ten Decaying Code Archives.
Which when broken down it is 5 Corrupted Code's and 400 pieces of Decaying Code.

-----

Now that you know the requirements for these slick new toys. Let's take a look at a few more interesting details of this wonderful adventure. I'll start with the obvious questions.

How do I obtain these Items that are required, so I can start enjoying my new "Content" as it were?

The Corrupted Code's are looted from the Lv. 100 Wasteland Corruptor's. (Not sure if the Corrupted code will always drop.)

The Decaying Code's are looted from the Corrupted. They will spawn based on your Lv. So it Your a Lv.50, Expect Lv. 53's. A Lv. 35, Expect Lv. 38's and so on. (Not sure if the Decaying code will always drop.)

The next question I'm sure you all are thinking is: "How can I kill a Lv. 100 Wasteland Corruptor?"

Well there is an answer to that too. The Contact "Fumigator" is able to provide us with a wonderful weapon against the Wasteland Corruptor's. Fumigator will provide you with "Insecticide Code's" that will assist in your efforts to take down the Wasteland Corruptor's.

Well what can these "Insecticide Code's" do against a Lv. 100!?"

Well the "Insecticide Code's" will damage the Wasteland Corruptor slowly. The Wasteland Corruptor is unable to regenerate it's Health Point's. So, with 5,100 Health points and the "Insecticide Code's doing 15 points of damage per hit, you will need exactly 340 Insecticide Code's to be able to put the Wasteland Corruptor's down for the count.
Which when broken down it is 340 Decaying Code's to get 340 Insecticide Code's.

Final Review:

Insecticide Code's(5):
Five Decaying Code's.

Patcher's Pill:
Ten Decaying Code's.

Patcher's Hat:
Two Decaying Code Archive's > 40 Decaying Code's per Decaying Code Archive > Total Decaying Code's - 80.

Patcher's Bandana:
1 Corrupted Code.
5 Decaying Code Archive's > 40 Decaying Code's per Decaying Code Archive > Total Decaying Code's - 200.

Patcher's Headgear:
Five Corrupted Code's.
Ten Decaying Code Archive's > 40 Decaying Code's per Decaying Code Archive > Total Decaying Code's - 400.

If you wish to obtain one of everything Fumigator is offering, You will need a projected grand total of 3,130 Decaying Code's and 6 Corrupted Code's. (2,040 of these Decaying Code's are put toward the "Insecticide Code's". Going on the hope of a Corrupted Code will drop on each and every Wasteland Corruptor kill, you will need 2,040 Decaying Code's total. 2,040 Decaying Code's will get you 2,040 "Insecticide Code's", which is exactly what you will need for 6 Wasteland Corruptor kills. Number of Decaying Code's for "Insecticide Code's" may be higher or lower depending on a sure drop or not of the Corrupted Code(s) from the Wasteland Corruptor's.)

I Hope this guide has helped some of you to understand anything you didn't before.

I think it's great.  We finally get something that takes more than an hour and a single team of six to obtain.  We finally get something that we actually have to really work for.

My internet service ended up crashing out last night (naturally, the day of a major patch).  I'm hoping to get it back up and working by this evening.

Adad, Manic, and myself found an excellent area at Bathory W to pin these SOB's down and hack the crap out of them while the ILr's keep them busy.  It worked really well.... It'll work even better with more people....  :D

Go ahead, make my day.

Rogan, Ana, and I had a similar method. Rogan and I hacked while Ana spammed the heals, using targeted hyperjump to get on the warehouse to regen without making the baddies go away.

Apparently Rarebit has been watching us.

Are you satisfied with how the Corrupter quest has turned out?  Is there anything in that you'd like to see changed as a developer?

It's still a little hard to tell due to the stacking (or non-stacking, rather) oversight *sigh*. I see that one team at least has killed a Wasteland Corruptor, which in a way is nice because that means it's possible without being too easy, which is what I wanted...I guess I just hope that that doesn't mean it will be too easy once the stacking is corrected. Anyway it's a little early to tell, and most people haven't yet got on to thinking about how to take out a Corruptor.

I spent a lot of time watching players battle the Corrupted on Friday, after I tweaked the spawn rate, and there were certainly a lot of players getting into it, but we'll just have to see if that lasts. But the player deaths vs Corrupted deaths seemed about right, so I think their difficulty at least worked out like I wanted it to. I suppose that will change as players get better at fighting them, but so far it's about where I wanted it, and I noticed that even highly organized groups like the Furious Angels and Systematic Chaos, while they could chew through Corrupted at a pretty good clip, could still get into a tight spot here and there. So I guess I can say at least that the overall mechanics of the thing seem to be working okay, which is nice because we haven't attempted something like this before, and I think some of the things we've learned from this will be very useful in developing more permanent encounters.
