GFX card shopping!
« on: February 12, 2007, 10:14:50 am »
Okay, I need sites for cheaper priced GFX cards.... I'm looking at PC world and Amazon priced ones ATM they're not bad, but meh :p

Also I rather ATI products, since I've always had an ATI GFX card; but I may go for Nvidia if the prices are cheap :D

So far:

*ATI Radeon Sapphire X1650 Pro PCI-E 256 MB

-    ATI Radeon 1650 Pro Chipset
-    256MB GDDR3 Memory
-    PCI-E x16 Interface
-    Dual DVI-I / HDTV-Out
-    Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Support
-    OpenGL 2.0 Support
-    Windows Vista Ready
-    ATI Crossfire Ready

From PC world. £79.99

if you really really want ati i would suggest a 1800 gto or xt if you could afford it its going to be a lot better performance wise here is a little comparison... graph http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/sapphire_x1650_pro/5.html as you can see the 1650 is about avg between the midrange cards.  I just think the next level up would be the most bang for the buck whether its a 1800 series or 7600 nvidia.  btw a 7600 gt that is overclocked is roughly the same price with better performance as you can see from that website.

Hmmm, I don't really want to overclock unless I get a guide that gives me the EXACT details e.g pictures. I don't want to fuck up my cpu.

lol no the graphics card comes to you from the factor overclocked you dont do anything but stick it in your computer... they upgrade the fan and heatsink and overclock it :) not to mention if you did go nvidia and got an XFX model you get a double life time warranty meaning if you ever sell it that person also has a warranty on it. :)  But like I said either 1800 or 7600 would be your best bet just compare prices and check them out.

Quote from: "Newegg"
Newegg.com does not currently ship internationally; we only deliver to locations within the United States and to Puerto Rico.

That would be a no - and it definitely wouldn't have been $6 to the UK in any case.  In fact you're going to be hard pressed to find any US company that will ship hardware to you, though Outpost used to, I don't know if they're around any more.  And of course, mail in rebates will not be available to you.

ah yes... well that was just used as an example of the card it gives you the model to look for as for a company to get it from youre on your own.

here ya go subb I took the liberty of checking at the only uk site I know of.  I have heard they have great prices and the rumors seem true :) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-019-BG  Cheaper and about 40-70% faster than the 1650, in most cases.

That card is £93.99 :S so roughly $180 so a bit too expensive; the ATI cards there (up to the X1650) are really cheap so they could be an option (if they weren't out of stock :S)

NOTE - £93.99 includes VAT and Shipping.

Just buy a nVidia 8800 and get it over with.  It's the only video card on the market to take full advantage of DirectX 10. ;)
