The game takes place in the first movie, for instance Aragorn is Called Strider when you first go to him to begin your real story quests.  No, you cannot go to the eye because that land will not be open in the release (Mordor i think).  The map is simply one part of the middle-earth land.  At least 5 more are going to be opened with expansions I assume as the story progresses.  Even though only one is open, though, the land is enourmous!  However when you enter places of evil I guess is the best explaination of it, the eye will like flash on ur screen like it's calling to u or something, very cool effect.  Plus, Pirus you may appreciate this, if you go into a tavern for instance, u can buy various beers and wines and the more u drink the more drunk u get.  The effects are amazing, the picture slowly turns black and white, and more and more hazy and the camera sways different ways so its hard to walk.  Very nice little feature.

Yup, only one month left of play...  The sweet thing is, though most probably have preordered, if you preorder you get nearly a month of play before the game gets on shelves and they keep your character.

I don't know if you or Ana care to know this BUT, you'll be able to carry your chars over (up to 10-15 chars I think) once the game actually releases.

I got invited to the beta... but I played the stress test and to be honest I wasn't that impressed. It's a decent game don't get me wrong... Just feels too much like all the other fantasy mmo's out there.

Yes sub, it's a monthly pay.  If you preorder tho u can either just pay $10 a month instead of 15, or pay $200 for a lifetime subscription
