Sorry double posting but this was made a while back and our bud Ratio made some interesting remarks on why not to use dual on MxO.

Granted this is old and drivers had issues but it is very possible all these issues exist.

I'm thinking the two video cards will make the game run faster and the graphics better allowing me to do some better filming in game more FPS.  I dont' want to drop a huge chunk of cash on them but am willing to spend some decent money so let me know

The matrix online does not use any complicated shaders and AA and all the fancy lighting and smoke effects like new FPS games. Two video cards gains you very little if anything at all. If your going to play the newest and greatest FPS games sure the results will be awesome. But you'll run into a lot of problems with MxO, pretty much because of that lame ass 800x600 res. loading area. (read the post linked above ^^^)

when i purchased my new supercomputer recently the sales chap talked himself out of selling me 2 of the nvdia 7900gtx cards to me because the moniter I use simply did not warrant the dual power of the sli cards. I got one of the cards and some nice ram and processors etc and the game looks magnificent on highest settings. In any event I would report that 7900gtx not in sli configuration works very very well old chap.

well you could buy 2 7900 gtx's or basically one 8800 gtx the one 8800gtx will basically beat any combonation of 2 graphics cards in SLI or come damn close.  You could always get 2 of those :) and while youre at it get me another one hehe.  Not to mention these are direct x 10 video cards meaning when vista comes out it will run games on dx10 for the ultimate picture quality.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150205

this site has some comparisons of the 8800gtx against SLI setups from ati and nvidia http://www.rage3d.com/reviews/video/nvidia8800/index.php?p=8  (Reminder that 8800gtx isn't in SLI its just one card against 2 :) )

I just thought this might be helpful if you thought about getting 2 cards that were 400 each when you can get just 1 card for 630 or so that in most cases will beat those other 2 cards not to mention the better quality from it.  If the price is a bit too high and yoru determined to have 2 cards the 8800 GTS is more afordable to buy 2 of.

The wonderful thing about SLI is that you can specify whether or not you are rendering with both video cards or not. If memory serves, you can even configure (within the drivers) which programs can use both video cards, and which programs should only use one. Interesting little tidbit I thought you'd like to know.

Yeah you can choose how the two video cards work, as in have one do the top half of the screen and vice versa or have them split up little squares or just have one video card working and the other one idle. But since MxO is one of the officially compat SLI games, Nvidia already has MxO configured in the drivers.

yes the 8800 gtx is the best graphics card available in quality and speed of course that could change in 2 months but you could also think about the 8800 gts its a little slower but still faster than the previous generations from ati and nvidia and saves you a bit of money but if you wanna be competative and beat me then i guess 2 8800 gtx's :( since i only have one... you son of a...... lol..... btw. there are several different models of the gtx well several manufacturers they are all about the same performance wise but the main difference is the look of it I got the xtx but you could go with bfg or leadtek or asus ect... if you search on newegg you can see them all.
