Computer Issues...
« on: November 25, 2006, 09:03:56 pm »
Hey guys. Just thought I'd let you all know my computer has died. (I guess I have really bad luck with that.) I've described what happens to a friend of mine. (When I attempt to boot up after loading it goes to a black screen then a blue screen quickly appears and the computer restarts) He seems to believe that my harddrive is messed. I don't know how long it's going to take me to get a new harddrive... if worse comes to worse my friend has offered me a spare one he has. I'm going to do whatever it takes to get up and running again even if it mean buying a new computer. (although that will take considerably longer than getting a new harddrive). Until then I will continue to keep you guys informed via my dad's laptop.

Turn off automatic restart on fatal error (it's in your system properties)

Destyn is wise!
Advanced Tab, Error Reporting section, on the Sys Properties.
This will give you BSOD next time anything happens, and won't restart.

Note down the main error message (might not make sense), and the numbers (like 0x0432568E) and then restart manually.
Post up the info you wrote down, and we'll debug for ya.

Hopefully, it wont happen again!

C'mon bro, I got tiger blood.

yeah i was hoping you wern't going to buy a new hard drive since it seemed like a software problem more than hardware so glad its working and you didn't make that mistake. Generally speaking if it just keeps screwing up often you can always do a format if you have a windows disk... I personally like to do it once a year anyway.

Ok guys it happened again... this time i wrote down some of the info on the blue screen o' death.

It said an error had occured in the windows file ati2dvag.
It said that the device driver was stuck in an infinate loop.
Check the drivers for updates.
Tech info:
*** STOP : 0x000000EA (0x85DB14A0, 0x86CD7668, 0xF78BECBC, 0x00000001)

So.... you checked for updated drivers?

You should completely remove the old ones before you install any new ones.  I would suggest you find and run the ATI Cleaner tool, and remove the device from Windows then install the new drivers
