Regarding Our Behavior

Ok...I think this needs to be addressed. It's no secret that live events have been less than stellar recently, and that the people running the "show" aren't perfect. However, I think we need to take a step back and get our own behavior in check before we become what so many perceive us to be.

I can't help but think that Rarebit and others involved in LE see us as whiny, spoiled brats that complain whenever things don't go exactly our way. There have been some questionable comments and actions that have caused us to be bitter, and I've been noticing quite an increase in snide remarks, especially during live events.

First of all, events for us were always meant to be the "sacred RP ground", where we stay in character. Lately it seems to be a place to get in a few complaints to Rarebit, which totally breaks the RP.

This, in turn, promotes the attitude that we're the "people to avoid doing LE with" that we've been trying so hard to protest. If you feel like you got screwed in an event (which it often appears we do), bitching too much about it only makes it seem like they did the right thing by leaving us out or whatever "unfair" action you think they took.

There's a time and a place to bring up concerns, but I can guarantee you that Rarebit is tired of our shit. Now I'm not immune to the bitchiness either (though mine is usually aimed at Brewko), but we need to take a step back and see how we may be perceived. It is better to be seen as the great player that is getting overlooked than the bitch that won't stop whining.

So I suppose calling Rarebit a pussy at a live event isn't kosher?
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

No it's not....

And to be honest I am mostly to blame for this.  I've become a bit of a shit head here latley about it.  I guess I'm just to damn old, and not willing to take the crap from the younger generation anymore...

Tbone is right, and the fault falls on me.  I've said and done things that I shouldn't of which gives an appearance to others that it's okay to do the same.  Which it is not.

Let's get back on track with this and another thing we need to do is tone down the trash talking in PVP

Go ahead, make my day.

One thing I've always tried to do in order to check myself on things like this is just always trying to stay "in-character" when dealing with anyone outside of FA. When your in-character your not gonna bitch and whine... your not gonna make an ass out of yourself or FA. One of the things I loved about FA when I first encountered you was the fact that it seemed like you always always always were in-character... and that gave off the vibe of professionalism and it earned my respect. This isn't the only occasion that FA has been treated unfairly... there have been pleanty of times that I can remember. That fact of the matter is that we can't let it get to us. We're better than that on so many levels. When we do give into unfair treatment we're just giving those who criticize us the most what they want. Try and keep this in mind.

With PvP.. once I die.. WHICH IS OFTEN.. I try not to talk in area chat at all unless asking for rez... if I am dead I am dead... I hate people that lie there and won't shut up.. I wish there was a hack that you could force dead people to the loading area..  it would be great... but there isn't.. so I just try to not talk.. keeps me from saying anything stupid or negative.. or negatively stupid.. ;)

Often the best way to handle mixed environments is to stay neutral.  So far it has worked very well for me.

If you feel the need to bitch and type out your frustration put it in facton chat. You'll be bitching to your teammates(who I'm sure will understand), and no one will know that they are getting to you.

For the most part i don't say anything in area chat.  I usually voice whats happening in TS or Faction chat.    Alas i am guilty of the few complaints at LE, the only thing i said was i want HJ beta cause i didn't get it.  I asked Niobe if she could get it for me, lol.  I will be more silenced in the future as far as thats concerned.

Bumpage.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I can't believe I missed this thread in the first place.  I guess I've been busier than I thought.  :(

I was going to make a post about this, but Tbone pretty much said it all for me.  If you look at screenshots and read chat logs from some of the first live events, FA was always there and we were always in-character.  We took it seriously when so many others didn't.  That's what made us stand out, and it's what made many potentials take notice enough to want to join.

During interviews, we tout ourselves as geared towards making a significant impact on the storyline, so let's walk that walk.  When an event goes down, remember who you are.  You're a member of The Furious Angels!  Be proud, yet humble, and get down to business for the sake of Zion.

Maybe some /mood regals and "V" formations are in order.  :)

Yeah, maybe we can make January "FA Month". I'll have most of the month off, so I can actually play hardcore for a while before I go to Virginia and drop off the face of the earth again.
