The brain activity of "moving right" is happening... in his brain.
The same signals that are moving the game, are also moving his fingers, hence "left" and "right".

In the same way, someone who had an accident and has no arms would still be sending the signals to the missing arm/fingers, and the device could read that to move the arm/fingers.

I imagine this could be moved to a 3-d environment quite easily.
However, I think that maybe there is an "auto left" function happening in the game, and he is just moving it right.

The controller is the big brain cap he's wearing...

whatever, his left hand was moving way too much, conveniently under the table, to be real.  and even if that wasn't the case, there could be a controller off camera.  this is just stupid, real or fake
