Those are some sweet pictures, Fuse.

Hmm. I think I'm going to get to fly in a P-51 Mustang this summer up north. A friend of ours owns one, and he takes people for rides in it. My dad even got to fly it, do loops, barrel rolls, etc. It only cost him 600 dollars, too, for an hour ride!. It was pretty sweet and the smell from the engine is just amazing. I absolutely love the smell and that plane.

I really want to fly in it this summer, just to say I've been in the Cadillac of the WW2 fighters.

I would go much further into debt to fly a 51, and perhaps even my house to have a good long flight in an F-86. The mustang may be the Cadillac of the WWII days, but the F-86 is where american jet fighters started.

Where is your friend who owns this 51? By the way, I'm betting ALL of that $600 went straight to gas. That things has a 12cyl engine! The first ones started with a 1000HP engine, but now they pump out between 1700 and 2500HP depending on the engine...

I posted a bunch of pics on teh random thread, 2 including a heritage flight of the P-51, F-16, adn F-15. After the 15 and 16 landed the P-51 did a few mock strafing runs with pyro and everything, ir eally wish I had pics of it.

Oh, yeah, it all went to gas. My dad actually got a discount, too. It would have been about 750 dollars, but we had been towing his kid around the entire weekend in our Jet boat, and he felt bad that we had had to put up with him.

They currently live in the deep South, but I can't remember where exactly. It's either Mississippi or Louisiana. We get together every summer with them and about 6 other couples who love to fly planes and land Piper Cubs with floats on the water on a big lake. It is a ton of fun... they're a lot different to fly than a normal plane. I hate landing, too, because boats have the right away, and a majority of people are stupid.
