Job ideas?
« on: July 31, 2006, 12:24:27 am »
So I'm starting my next job in Memphis. Acting has a very unpredictable schedule, but I am certain I won't be making enough money. I need to find a second job - something flexible enough to basically only make me work when I have the time to work, since my other schedule will not stay the same. Yeah, I know, I'm basically screwed. Whatever I'm looking for, it is probably unique. Is there a way to make money online or something (and not those scam "make money at home" things)? I could jack up the FA merchandise prices and force you all to buy them in stock...that's about all I can think of. LOL

Grunt work is always a reliable possibility.  Mow lawns and do odd jobs.  If you want something that doesn't involve manual labor, check out a retail store.

CVS and Walgreens are easy cashier position jobs.  Staples, Office Depot, and OfficeMax are great, easy retail jobs, because while you'll still have customers trying to ram themselves up your ass, at least you won't have to deal with the a massive load like you'd find at Best Buy, Circuit City, and the hellish Wal-Mart.

Staples is pretty good with college student and part time, second job schedules.  At least here they are, but I've heard from people out of state that it's the same at the stores they worked at.

Try a local comic book shop or movie rental place.  If it's a mom & pop store, it's generally more relaxed than some ball busting corporate bullshit store.

Selling drugs and giving $10 blowjobs can pull in pretty good income if you live in a shitty area.  Have fun, and good luck!

Stop by your local Subway, most of the managers at those places are really laid back and can provide really flexible hours.  They also tend to hire young, which means that they hire really part time.  If you need a reference, let me know.

Don't they also have a tendency to be broken into and the workers blamed by the police? Just a little occupational hazzard that should be mentioned...

You can always do twmp work (manpower, teksystems, etc) they usually have jobs for the day or 2-3days. Jobs very in those positions from data entry type stuff, to manual labor movers, shipiing, recieving.

You may also try some part time work that will give you expierience such as phone sex.

Good Luck!!!

Hmm, a good job would be bartending, but that gets to be a straint. In highschool, I made bank working for a video game store around my hours at school. Took home about 500 or so dollars a week (excluding a game or two in the pay). I mean, it all depends on what you're really good at. I don't know you very well, but I shall offer what little advice this private can offer: DO NOT JOIN THIS MAN'S ARMY. >_>; Join Air Force National Guard if you even would ever consider military. Go to Miami beach for a weekend every month, watch a video on how to be safe then go party til dawn. XP
